I'll stick to the Java client until they delete it. Btw, I'm over a decade older than your toaster.

wow r u bragging ur older than my toaster

  2.

yeah most humans are idiots the two who've posted on this last page are for example

So the four ppl here? Unless you are a bot, which I wouldn't be surprised since you seem to be into that programming stuff. CS STUFF IS GROSS.

Years ago in college, my Differential Equations professor forced me to write some program for the Newton-Rhapson Method, if I recall, and it was the most pointless thing I've ever done. Math is more fun when done by hand, rather than on some stupid computer.

when I posted it was just you and me moron

I got 99 agility from Silverhawk Boots while killing Tormented Demons.

Also I could kill upwards of 250 Tormented Demons per hour via tribridding /years ago/. That's like infinitely times more difficult than getting 200m agility XP. Killing Tormented Demons involves skill, agility training the dumbest bots can do.

    I got 200m Agility when I was 29 years old. I got 200m Fletch & Thieve at 30.

Is that supposed to be a brag? lol

  5. Life is pretty awesome, I'm thinking about all the good stuff that's happened in the last year or two... It's a lot. A lot of firsts, a lot of spontaneous things, a lot of things I'd never have imagined I'd be able to do. I've got to remember this moment, this kind of thinking, so even when things get tough I remember how far I've come.

  6. I got the sweet programming job in Charlotte. Just waiting to pass the background check & drug test to sign off on the offer.

Unrelated, I made the bad joke "C is for communism" (as in Celsius) and it led to this poster:

Going to make it more detailed like this older one I did:

  7. I have an interview with a company in Charlotte, NC (on the border of NC/SC, about 2.5 hours away from Fayetteville) for an programming position. Currently I'm manic (in the sense I'm extremely confident, hyper-motivated, and extremely creative; not the manic depressed kind), so I'm hoping I stay in this state for the interview.

If I get this things are gonna go great.

  8. My game's demo is done.

Wow. Over 400 days and thousands of hours of effort resulting in a complete, self-contained game inside a (hopefully-to-be) much larger thing.

The journey's not over but I'm going to take this as a big victory.

  9. I went to the Advisory Committee for the computer departments at my school today. There were only a few other people (all alumni) invited. The dean and chairpeople of the three major computer-related departments were there. I was able to give some feedback on how I think the curriculum could improve.

I thought that was pretty cool.

    ...

Also the demo for my game is fundamentally done. I just need to add some post-quest dialogue and a settings screen. Also music but that's a difficult one.

Gotta form an LLC and get a extended verification code signing certificate. Going to cost upwards of $500-600 if I understand everything correctly. Then it's time to approach publishers & all that jazz.

  10.

I added the Isabelle boss fight.

She rezzes some skeletons at the beginning of the fight. There's one corresponding to each combat style, and so long as it is alive, she can't be damaged by that combat style. She then does a few regular attacks before using a power. For example, if she's using the zweihander, she'll use Tornado which deals damage in an AOE and hits the target twice. She then does a couple more regular attacks before switching combat styles and repeating the cycle.

On the boss HUD it shows which styles she's immune to. There's going to be some dialog before you fight her, too, but I haven't added that.

  11. I think what I'm going to do instead is dial down hour many hours I work (planning on quitting soon anyway) and drop one of the classes. That should be do able. I'll then move around some classes next semester so I have the random electives + like Calculus I / English (not necessary for my program but useful for transferring) in the Spring so I'm taking no more than 4 classes at a time.

I'll plan on transferring to NC State, and failing that, the local Fayetteville State University. If I only get into FSU I'll do classes so I have a strong case for transferring to Georgia Tech a year later. Otherwise if I'm at NC State I'll finish out my program there without the extreme debt of Georgia Tech. I will then try and get into Georgia Tech for a dual MBA / MS  in CS some point in the future, then maybe I could get a PhD at MIT. Assuming I don't go down the managerial programming route professionally.

I'd love to go into academia and pursue AI, but I'd also love to be CTO of a giant company.

I think that's a better plan all things considered.

  12. I think I'm finally cracking under the pressure of work / school. I am so depressed and the delusions are creeping back. I've taken on too much for someone with as severe as a mental illness as me. I may have to drop my summer classes and dial down on how many I'm taking next semester. I have like 1 day to decide.

It's bad graduating a semester later, it would be worse not graduating at all.

  13. Thank you.

The last few days I've been honestly thinking about getting a BS from NC State then a MS from Georgia Tech and a PhD from MIT (assuming I get accepted and can somehow make money via my own means). Bonez made a good point about the debt since I do want to pursue higher education, it would mess things up if I took on a lot of debt in my under-graduate studies.

  14. Yeah I'm only making like $600/month I can do without that income I'm seriously considering giving my two weeks in June (1 year mark).

I don't need the money. It's just nice to have. I'll just get a job on the weekends or whatever as a waiter/bartender idc.

I'm working on getting an offer from a few places I've interviewed at. If I can get an offer for 55-60k in a better area I'll use that to demand $30k/year part time (i.e., half of full time salary) or I'm gone. But I don't think understand how big of a mistake of not fighting tooth and nail to keep me would be. I'm literally their best programmer by such a margin it's [bleep]ing insane.

I've fixed problems you can only fix with a knowledge of linear algebra. I'm currently the only one with the maths background to work on the more demanding graphics features of our product, and without me, they're in pretty poor shape. My background with graphics programming in general is critical to the future features they want to implement. They really don't know...

  15. So my job said no to a raise and they'll revisit in a month.

I should be making 30-40K/year as a part-time programmer in this area, but I make $10.50 an hour. Cart pushers at Wal-Mart make more than me.

  16. Do you mind my asking what your script is? I don't think I've heard anyone describe their anxiety meds as addictive before

As for complicating multiplayer, wouldn't it work the same way item drops did in 2007 Runescape? Stage 1 is priority player loot which after a moment moves to a public loot. Why not add a third step where it gets auto banked to priority player?

It's clonazepam. Over-use can result in dependence. Isn't xanax really addictive? IDK. I'm just listening to what my pharmacist told me.

I suppose I can assign items to a player (whoever dealt the most damage or whatever) and move them to their bank when everyone leaves the area if someone else doesn't pick it up. Now how would you get rid of an item you don't want...

  17. I gave a final presentation in class today, I think it went pretty well. The presentation is worth like 30% of our grade. Had to take my anti-anxiety meds 30 minutes before the first presentation. They take about an hour to kick in so by the time we presented I felt the positive effects. And by the time of the last presentation I felt the negative side effects (tiredness). Went home and directly went to bed lol. Now I'm wide awake at 10:00 pm ugh. But I think it was worth it. I didn't feel anxious or anything while presenting (just slightly nervous in the first minute during prep).

The medication is very addictive so I prefer other techniques to help with anxiety (calming music, alone time are good ones typically), but of course that's not feasible during the presentation lol.

    ...

Also I was playing my game one of my other classes and I have to say it's pretty fun. I haven't played it / worked on it in a couple weeks while trying to focus on school & work. The tutorial intro is nice and really captivating. I like Cap'n Raven seems so ... interesting, despite having so little dialogue and being MIA after the Cthulhu attack. The combat system is pretty good, abilities aren't OP and you don't feel bad ignoring them, but they help out a lot in more difficult fights, especially the defensive abilities like Absorb (heals you after a few seconds by a % of the damage you take) and Bash (stuns the opponent and makes their next attack take a lot longer to land). The dialogue and world building stuff (like examines) are good, too. Most of them are pretty witty or thoughtful.

The only problem I had was you can't loot everything. I'm thinking of adding tiers of items that alchemize, bank, or otherwise nab drops for you. For the tutorial, I'm planning on making a "portable zombi merchant" that buys loot on the ground for a small price. You'll be able to rezz a zombi using zombi brains, bones, and mooish leather using magic, faith, and crafting (lol). I hate having to leave so much crap on the ground. Alternatively I'll have loot you don't pick up automatically banked when you leave an area, but that complicates multiplayer.
