I personally subscribe to the time is money school of thought on runescape. For example, if I wanted to work on fletching, I could go cut yews for an hour, cut some yew longs, lather, rinse, repeat. In that same hour, I could kill blue drags instead of cut wood, and i would earn enough geepees to buy 2-3 times as many logs as I could have cut (give or take, too lazy to work out the math right now :D ). Having said that, I do understand that if my combat stats were maxed out, then it would be smarter to cut my own logs, for the eckspee.
