  1. School started.

We got into groups for our final presentation in my philosophy class (at the end of the semester), and I already know two of the dudes won't do any work (I've done a group project with one of them before and I did it all, and the other straight up told us that he wasn't planning on doing any work for the class). Fantastic.

Programming language class will be tough, since we'll be working with Haskell and Prolog, which all rely on recursion which I'm not too good at.

Haskell is pretty fun once you understand it. Prolog is very hard to grasp, but figuring the problem out is pretty fun too.

    - transcend my mortal shell and become a cool ghost person

Like Bill Cosby in Ghost Dad?

My resolution is to get a decent income and move to Washington state because it's so prettiful :'(. Redmond, hopefully.

I'm moving to Redmond on July 1 :)

You should start going to AA meetings jeez. This can't be a healthy or cheap habit...

Have you been hacked or is this deliberate trolling just a teenage phase you'll (hopefully) snap out of very soon?

Probably just his first round of college finals that made him crazy :p

  4. Remembered that I had these things,[hide]

    I do that a lot too :)

  5. Wow... what an experience that looks like! :)

Glad you could make it thru Budapest-Vienna-Prague. Some of the more historically interesting cities of Europe.

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty damn jealous of your trip. Make sure you enjoy it very much. :)

Thanks, good to hear that my timelines aren't totally wrong. I've been looking forward to this for a long time, I'm definitely going to enjoy it :p

5k budget? Jesus christ! Is that per person Blake?

And nice to see things lookin up for you albel

Yeah, we didn't want to completely bum around everywhere, and want to try some good food. Tbh, I really don't care how much I spend, because 2 weeks after I get back I start my full-time job.

  6. So I'm finalizing that Europe trip I asked about a while back. We're flying in to Iceland for 2 days, and then to Amsterdam for 33 more. This is a rough estimate of where we'd like to go...

Not everything is set in stone, like the one to Copenhagen. All of the times sum up to about 100 hours of trains. We're not going to make a set time or itinerary, so we'll modify it if we need/want to, depending on which cities we like, etc. Hoping to do some mountain biking/climbing, maybe cliff diving, if anyone has suggestions on that.

Ticket is $1200, eurail pass is 700, and we're thinking about $100/day for everything else, so a 5k budget.

  7. Alright, thanks for the advice guys. I'd like to hit all the cities I've listed (and more) but I know a month isn't long enough to get to all of them. I'll head to Vienna, and check out Krakow too.

I haven't heard of Contiki before, but it looks really cool. My friend I'm going with doesn't really want to have a set schedule, and just travel around wherever we want though. If I don't do it this time, it's definitely something I'll look into for future years.

I was originally thinking $4000 for a month-ish, which is a 1300 ticket and 90/day for everything else. Money isn't that big of an issue though, and I can spend more if I need to.

Right now I need to focus on narrowing down which cities and places we go to, which I don't want to do :(

  8. Hey guys, need some advice from the Europeans here. I have two months between the time I graduate and the time I start working full time. My friend and I wanted to take a trip to Europe. We didn't want to plan everything out, just use public transportation to get from country to country, and see a lot of places in the time we have.

I did a quick search, and a round trip ticket to Budapest is only $1200. We'd like to go to a few big cities, like Warsaw, Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris, Barcelona, Geneva, Monaco, Rome, etc. How hard/feasible would it be to do this, not knowing the languages or much about the country? Are there good places to go or avoid?

Any advice would be good :) We'd probably be going from the middle of May to the middle of June-ish, with about 3 people. How much would it cost to live/travel for a month?
