  1. If money or resources are the issue here, then Jagex can make this avenue available only to members, upon the payment of an $X review deposit. If the person is found to have been lieing, they forfeight that money, which then becomes a Review fee revenue for Jagex, hence covering the cost of the review. If the person is found to be telling the truth, that $X can be credited to their membership days or refunded. Atleast that avenue would be open. IF people are willing to pay for that security, then why not have it available? Jagex is already thinking along these lines, with that key code key ring thing they are releasing (a waste of money if you ask me). That floodgates argument which Jagex keeps falling back on just does not satisfy me. There are ways around anything.
  2. "ZOMG why woodz anyon1e walk wif 350M in they invanetory?? He diverse 2 looezed itz." Just to let you all know, apparently it was the following quotation from the Mobilising Armies recent updates thread which influenced him to bring in the cash. "As we all know, war isnt cheap, so with Mobilising Armies we are introducing a commodity-exchange system....youll be able to trade them in at the command centre for investment credits" Apparently he brought the cash so he wouldn't have to worry about going back and forth to grab more cash as he assumed it was a safe minigame.
  3. It is in my opinion evident from these posts that Mod Mat K carries with him a great deal of arrogance. The way in which he speaks to his paying customers shows disrespect. I don't know about you but at my workplace I refer to my customers as Sir and Mam, and if a customer complained to me, I wouldn't dream of saying the things he said. Bear in mind that this player has just lost 350M and been flamed by a Jagex mod. There is not the slightest doubt in my mind that if this happened to anyone of us we would be as angry if not more angry than him. Although there is no legal obligation for Jagex to replace this, at the very least they have a moral one. Had Mod Mat K done is job competantly and exersized due care, perhaps Exile could have benefited from a roll back. It was due to Mod Mat K's negligence that the situation was bungled and the account was not given the correct attention until it was too late. Further the initial apology is brisk and not very sincere when held against the comments. I would also like to note his arrogant and sarcastic little comments after the apology as well as his off topic spam comments about football which I don't think are shown here. this example from page 68 highlights this page 68
  4. Browsing through the RS forums, my jaw dropped at this thread: LOST 350M CASH - MA TUT GLITCH Quick find code: 129-130-208-59125105 Take a look at how this player was treated. You won't believe it. Exile 35 08-Jul-2009 16:12:03 LOGGING OUT DURING THE MA TUTORIAL MADE ME LOSE MY 350M CASH PILE. IT IS GONE, IT IS NOT IN MY BANK, IT IS GONE. ANOTHER CASE OF THIS-- QFC: 129-130-931-59124943 JAGEX, THIS IS TOO MUCH, YOU NEED TO ROLL THIS BACK PLEASE. page 8 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 08-Jul-2009 16:54:39 Now, if I decided to check all the people that claimed to have lost stuff out and see whether they had, what percentage do you think would be telling the truth. Knowing that the original poster is talking twaddle, I think it would be very low. ´°º.Mat.º°` page 10 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 08-Jul-2009 17:01:29 I know you didn't lose it Exile. Please accept my apology Exile and thanks for pursuing the issue. Mat. ------------------------------------------------------------- I thank you for apologizing for your rudeness, where you blatantly called me a liar. However, there is still the issue of billions being missing from the game now because of this glitch, do you think there is a chance of a roll back? I know i will get nothing back unless there is a roll back, also that the chance of this is small. exile page 62 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 13:42:32 Last edited on 09-Jul-2009 13:43:49 by Mod Mat K Hi everyone, I can see from the reaction of some players that my posts yesterday caused outrage with some of you and to be honest, I cant blame you. What I said, and how I said it was incorrect, so Id like to explain what happened. I would have posted sooner, but I have only been in work a short time and have just caught up with the thread. I left work after making the apology post last night, so there has been a lot of catching up for me to do. So, what went on? Well, obviously I needed to check the claim so that if a bug existed it could be highlighted and fixed. Sadly, as human as we all are, I made a simple mistake. I misread some information which suggested that Exile had lost some money during the MA tutorial (to me it looked like hed gained GP). For that I am sorry. I feel quite bad that I didnt spot the issue and have it escalated sooner so a fix could be worked on more quickly. I certainly felt I didnt meet the high standards I place on myself, and that we place on the Community Management team generally. Once I had been made aware that this was an issue, I rechecked Exiles account and spotted my mistake. I escalated the account (and others on this thread that were affected) so that the bug tracking team had more information to work with. Finally, I posted an apology. Obviously, had I not have made the initial mistake, I would not have posted what I did; which in hindsight was harsh, sorry again Exile. In fact, it would even have been harsh for someone who was making it up. On the positive side, the thread did cause the bug to be spotted and it has now been fixed, so it wont happen again. I will be at work for the next few hours or so and I will leave this thread unlocked and open until later today. Whilst the thread remains open I will keep checking for any questions you may have, and I promise to give an open and honest response to any questions raised. Thanks for reading, Mat. Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 13:51:03 Hi Ahrh, As we have always said, we won't replace items lost due bugs in game. I'm afraid that this bug is no different. Mat. page 68 7 Karlis 7 09-Jul-2009 14:19:56 Last edited on 09-Jul-2009 14:21:50 by 7 Karlis 7 Good job deleting a bunch of posts and threads mat, what happened to the thread complaining about you -.- Now for the post that you deleted of mine ___________________________________________ What sickens me the most is what mod mat did 1. exile made a nice thread, no flaming until mod mat came here. 2. Mod mat called him a lier to his face 3. mod mat apologized, which means nothing, jagex apologizes all the time and nothing happens. 4. he deletes threads complaining about him, deletes posts for complaining about him when there not spam. Keep this up and its a good way to get fired. Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 14:20:49 You're on it Karils. ´°º.Mat.º°` page 69 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 14:28:36 Ok, let's talk about rollbacks. How many people do you think are affected by a single bug? I haven't any figures, but 100,000 people seems a large amount right? If a rollback happens, any one who wasn't affected by the bug will also be rolled back and there are a lot more of those players. So, if a rollback ever happens, we have to balance the positive affect on some players against the negative affect on others. Never an easy thing to balance. ´°º.Mat.º°` Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 15:02:16 I'm afraid Alien that we don't give items back that are lost due to bugs. Sorry. ´°º.Mat.º°` page 76 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 15:11:09 I think it has merit BV, but it is something that will need to be considered very carefully. I think I said earlier, but I will repeat it here, why replacing lost items is not something we do. If we were to do it, we would be inundated with requests for free items. These would need looking at and would take a lot of time, meaning other areas of Jagex would suffer. ´°º.Mat.º°` page 79 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 15:54:32 Ok, so what did I miss.... Quote from Nyoung3. wouldn* it be possible to "rollback" just one account? If we did that, then everyone would be constantly asking us to be rolled-back. Of course, if we do something for one player, we have to do it for everyone. Quote from Killercaster. I hope you get fired Mod Mat K. Ouch. Quote from Kommander66. alot of time mod it takes longer to get 350mill cash cant you guys make a bot to keep track for you? I'm no programming expert, but I would imagine that if we could create a bot to spot when money is lost to a bug.. we would need to know what the bug was. If we knew what the bug was, it wouldn't be a bug for long. Quote from Goldan Saint. You knew about this glitch within the first hour Matt, since you posted on this thread in its first hour. Did you let everyone at Jagex know there MA had a glitch and people are losing money? As soon as I realised there was a possibility of a glitch, I made sure that we were aware of it. There are lots of comments and not too many questions. If you think of any good ones post them. ´°º.Mat.º°` Exile 35 09-Jul-2009 15:54:42 I understand the problems that would be caused by handing out refunds to people, and all the fake claims, mod mat k. But, also you have to understand, I just lost 350M here, i worked for months to gain that, and, not only do i not get my money back, i don't get anything, not even your usual free months of members(not that i need that). This is terrible. Your company is running itself into the ground, here's a hint mat, FIX IT. page87 Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 16:25:51 Quote from Exile 35 . But, also you have to understand, I just lost 350M here, i worked for months to gain that, and, not only do i not get my money back, i don't get anything, not even your usual free months of members(not that i need that). I'm sorry mate, but there isn't a 'usual free months of members'. Quote from Pizza Or Pie. BUT - they KNOW Exile lost 350M. Tell me, right now - what harm would it do ? It would open the flood gate for every player who thought they should claim to have a go. In turn, that would cause a mountain of work which impact on other areas of Jagex. Quote from E X T Re M E. 2nd- Can You please plead the people that made the font/hotkeys/numbers update to change the frikken thing back. Make it an optional update because truly, most people I know hate it. It is truly bothersome to have trouble trying to de-code some's message because of these new letters/numbers. The developers are aware of the feedback on hotkeys. Sadly, I can't tell you what changes are due to be made, if any. Quote from Woolfey4. 1. What were you doing for the nine months this update was delayed? 2. How many more months untill this awful fun-orb-non-RPG-like minigame is safe and glitchless to play? Another 9? We were making it better for those 9 months, and the bug has been fixed. Quote from Clarinet6. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I believe that the lack of a roll back was intentional. I have SOME reason to believe this has all because of the well-known "26k pvp trick", and am sticking to this theory until action, or ANY news issued by jagex, is disclosed to us hard-working players. Why do i believe this? Where's the outlet for all the admittance of GP via artefacts obtained through pvp? As of now, there isn't one, which is causing massive inflation..as well all know already. I have reason to believe this was done to temporarily subsidize inflation. Yes, maybe I am crazy for thinking this. You are a conspiracy theorist. BTW, the aliens from Roswell hang out in my basement with the film set of the moon that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin (met him once) landed on. Quote from Rices. Isn't that your responsibility due to the glitch :S? cleaning up the mess? As much as I hate to say it, the terms and conditions of your account use say otherwise Mod Mat k page 91 Ahrhiman: 09-Jul-2009 16:40:38 - Yes the terms and conditions state that "You agree that all intellectual property or other rights in any game character, account and items are and will remain our property" and also "...WE DO NOT ACCEPT LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY US OR OUR EMPLOYEES OR AGENTS IN CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE (A) THERE IS NO BREACH OF A LEGAL DUTY OF CARE OWED TO YOU BY US OR BY ANY OF OUR EMPLOYEES OR AGENTS; (B) SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGE IS NOT A REASONABLY FORESEEABLE RESULT OF ANY SUCH BREACH..." However - surely the time spent gaining items is a quantifiable instance not covered by the Terms and conditions? Perhaps this is a point of leverage? If anything - if not a legal obligation to rectify the situation of gp loss, then surely a moral obligation to reimburse when the time that I and Exile and others have spent gaining the gp lost is considered? Mod Mat K Jagex Mod 09-Jul-2009 16:43:22 Sadly Ahrh, as important as I like to think I am to the cogs that turn the machine that is Jagex, I'm not allowed to make up policy on that just yet. As promised, I am going to lock this thread now. It has been fun to hang out with you. Nothing wrong with a bit of trolling imo. I think I shall just say a few things here so everyone can see what's been going on. The bug has now been fixed. You lot have said that you want a better testing system so bugs like this don't happen, that is something we will take on board. Sadly, our policy is not to replace lost items for bug abuse, and this does apply here. Now it is time to draw a line under this subject, so I bid you adieu. "
