  1. Not all people lie on the internet. Why? If you never found out that they lied to you, then it wouldn't matter. What if you can't have a relationship in real life because of certain circumstances? I'm not trying to prove that runescape is better than real life, just saying that some things just aren't possible without runescape. What if you never played runescape? What affect would it have on you?
  2. Do any of you have a friend in runescape that you probably would've never met in real life? What if you never met this friend, it might change the outcome of something you do later on in life, causing something else to change. Without runescape relationships, your behavior could've been different towards real lifers.
  3. Some relationships just aren't possible in real life because you might never meet the other person. You may have met some really good friends in runescape that are from California, while you live really far away, there is a chance that you could've never met that friend in real life. Players live in different countries. Many people compare runescape to a dating chat room. Runescapers aren't looking for love or relationships on purpose when they first join the game, they're just there to play the game. In real life, people look for love or relationships on purpose. Some people don't get a long with people in real life but have an easier time to get along with players in runescape. In real life, people looking for relationships often try to impress members of the opposite sex, they try to get in bed with them. You aren't trying to do this in runescape and if you meet the right person, it could turn out to be a better relationship because you aren't trying to sleep with them, you know everything about them naturally for who they are. Of course, you still have to worry about people lying about who they are, pretending to be someone their not online. So I'm not saying that runescape is a better place to find relationships. I'm just saying that it can be better for some people. If you're asked for a date theres more emotional pressure, in runescape, theres no pressure, because nobody is expecting anything. Runescape has minigames and other activities in which you can get to know the other player better. You're forced to communicate with the other runescaper because you're always online with the chat on. Not saying you can't do the same thing in real life. This is what people do in real life when they want to get to know someone of the opposite sex, they ask if they want to go to the movies. Compare this to a runescaper having to deal with something with another runescape player before they ask to do anything. For example, a player may have to help another in the wilderness. It's different than actually a premeditated plan to go out on a date or to the movies. You can learn more about the other player this way. Would you rather have this type of relationship or a relationship in which the other person is just trying to impress you? Usually when you meet somebody for the first time, you have no reason to lie. In real life, if you really like somebody of the opposite sex, you might lie to get their favor. What reason is there to lie to someone in runescape? You won't meet the person in real life anyway, they live far, in a different country. So why lie? Also, you won't be afraid to tell personal things about yourself unlike in real life. You're anonymous. No worries, you can tell everything about yourself! If you get rejected by another person online, you can always try again because you can just log off and get on the next day. Pretty easy huh? Compared to real life. Finally, lets bring up the topic of shyness. For those in real life with social anxiety, it could really be easier for them to get a relationship in runescape! After all, they're anonymous, they don't need to worry about humiliation. Whose gonna watch you? They don't see you, you don't see them, that allows you to be more honest with the other person! For those too shy in real life, people will just see their outside. Runescape deemphasizes outside appearance. It's a lot easier to see the other player for what they are on the inside because of this. Real life, outside. Runescape, inside. I'm not saying that this is the case all the time. It's like, in real life, you start on the outside, then you get to the inside. Runescape can be the opposite, you get to know the inside, then the outside. In real life, you could be rejected or relationships may end up in dust, but in runescape, it's possible that relationships may last a lot longer. Some friendships or relationships aren't possible without runescape...
  4. Read the first sentence of my post, I'm not talking about a substance, I'm talking about an environment.
  5. You can be addicted to anything, watching movies, playing card games, however, you might not be physically or psychologically addicted to an environment. Most people treat runescape as a substance. Runescape isn't alcohol, it's not a cigarette that you can keep smoking, it's not a physical substance. Runescape is a world with it's own concepts, ideas, and beliefs. A lot of people say that runescape is limited and real life will usually lead to more productive results, but these people are wrong in a sense. Teenagers commit suicide everyday because they feel trapped from all the problems that occur in the real life society. Not all people can live in the real world. What about the people that don't have choices? Runescape gives these people opportunities that they will never find in real life, the ability to be a clan leader, to learn friendship values, to learn to share and cooperate with others. Runescape isn't just an addiction, some people play this game because they want a wider range of opportunities. Runescape can be good or bad, you have the chance to be a clan leader, to demonstrate true leadership, which you can apply to real life! Runescape is full of adults and children, and in the real world, you can't be a clan leader that organizes a clan of 50+ adults. Addiction is full of definitions, it can be alcohol, gambling, etc. We label runescape as a drug! It's not a drug, it's an environment. Some people feel that they have no control over their lives, but runescape gives you this control in certain situations. You can save your friend in runescape by helping them in the wilderness, you can help your clan with enough motivation, but in real life, you are limited. This is the difference between the real life environment and the runescape environment.
  6. We play runescape for a variety of reasons, but I believe that one major reason is to be immersed in the environment. We play this game to set a story for ourselves, escape reality,to discover new places, lots of other reasons based on the environment. In real life, you hardly have a story, you're another person without a role, but in runescape, you're character is part of history. For example, in real life, you are just you. Runescape allows you to set a story about yourself, first he was born in year 2006. Then he died in the wilderness, one day, he decided to get better, so he trained on moss giants. Eventually, he met a new friend, named "immersion". The story goes on and on. This is one major reason we play, to be a part of the runescape world. We also have to consider the history of runescape, it's part of this immersion concept. We're part of the history of runescape, you read more about runescape to learn more about it, the runescape gods, the quests, etc. We wouldn't be as immersed without runescape having it's own history. Quests are a huge part of this immersion concept, when completing quests, you feel like a part of history. It's all based on a story line, you are the hero, you are a part of history. Once again, you are immersed in runescape. All players in runescape affect another runescape player in a way, we all buy things in the game, meaning, we buy the goods of other players, they buy ours, we are part of the game, immersion. We affect the outcome of what happens to other players. Some players play runescape to venture, just to look for new places! This is part of that immersion concept. Finding new monsters in dungeons, new towns, etc. Finally, we play to discover, to learn new things about runescape, this is another part of that immersion concept. Now, I would like to know, how are you immersed in the runescape environment, no spamming, hi jacking, or flaming, thanks.
