So little of what you said even makes sense about World of Warcraft, and I'd hate for anyone to make the mistake of reading any of your posts and thinking they are true so: *WoW is not "horribly imbalanced" in favor of Paladins. Right now, the most powerful PvP class is Warrior (arguably overpowered) and Paladins are really quite balanced. However they will always be popular for PvP because they (along with druids) are a class designed around versatility. People think Pallys are over powered because they always do well. Well, by nature of their class, they SHOULD always do "well". However, they are never at the very top. *You regret making a rogue because they "are useless in instances". I cant even do anything but LAUGH at this statement. Rogues are number 2 or 3 right now in top DPS classes (DPS=damage per second). Their damage is only competitive with Mages and Hunters right now, and they are far ahead of Warlocks. All the other "hybrid" classes are far behind those 4 (because they are not pure DPS classes) *You are complaining about Battlegrounds, as a ROGUE. This is the absolute most ridiculous thing ever. Rogues, due to the nature of the class, are ALWAYS going to be GREAT at PvP. They have the largest variety of stuns, crowd controls, interrupts, and movement slows available in the game. (except for maybe a warrior). But, on top of that, they put forth incredible ammounts of damage in short periods of time, AND they can stealth. I see the problem though. You picked a Rogue. Rogues are very hard to learn. And, judging from your writing, you are a complete imbecile, so this is probably why your experience playing a rogue sucked. Not to mention the fact that you did not play the game long enough to be able to learn the intricate mechanics of how to be good with your class. Perhaps you should try the game again as a Death Knight. You can literally smash buttons on your keyboard and perform well with that class. Oh and the part about "taking out twinks" is simply a lie. It isnt true at all, and I have no idea where you would get such a crazy stupid idea. I bet you probably just heard it somewhere and spit it out here without even verifying that it was true. Rogues are very hard to learn? You should have draped that statement with considerably more sarcasm to make yourself clearer. Well maybe I should rephrase it to "Rogues are hard to learn how to play WELL". Nothing in itself is "hard to learn" I suppose because whatever class you are, you can just walk right up to it and mash buttons and evertually it will probably die. But really, to do well with a rogue, takes time, intelligence, skill, and determination. They are a finesse class, especially when it comes to PvP. If you just randomly bust out of stealth and start Sinister Striking your oponent, your flimsy Leather-wearing butt is going to get exploded by any Pally, Warrior, DK, or even a fellow Rogue. If you don't learn the finesse of using your character, youll get constantly dominated, and then nerdrage about "OMG GAME IS IMBALANCED" just like trembake. Rogues take a lot of damage, and in order to survive they have to rely on very long cooldowns to not get chopped down in 3 globals. They aren't like a DK where their armor will mitigate a ton of physical damage and then they can self heal. Rogues have no self healing, they are restricted to the second lowest level of armor, they are only effective with melee combat (meaning that they have to be close to the powerhouse plate wearers to kill them, they cant just kite a Pally all day like a Mage can) and rogue PvP revolves around careful timing of a wide range of effects like stuns, disarms, and interrupts. Not sure how you can consider this "easy" to learn. To be perfectly honest, I haven't touched the game in the newest expansion so the talent sets and such may have changed drastically with the most recent level cap, but I doubt it. Also, my rogues were all alts, so I'm not necessarily claiming that I'm the most experience rogue expert of all time. But honestly gearing was the most difficult aspect of playing a rogue, and there was no difficulty to it. SnD and garrote rotations weren't exactly rocket surgery. I stopped playing pretty early into sunwell, however I wasn't at all referring to pvp, considering it's more or less irrelevant.... Okay, I guess I will chime in on my own thread here... lol. Many look what a discussion this has turned into... lol. I did try a rogue as my first real main. I abandoned it at level 40 or so. It is a really slow leveling process. It uses lots of stealtjh, but has incredible DPS capabilities. I do understand how someone could complain about this class, mainly because it is a very detailed class.

As an 80 priest in a guild with TotC 10 and 25 cleared, I'd like to just back up nerdboy's opinion. I mean, he has no right to what he is saying, because all he has done is level and BG, but he's still able to see that WoW is a borefest. Been playing that game here and there ever since Fall 06. I quit before BC came out because I thought the game sucked. When the new expansion came, I got an email for a free trial. Thought some things seemed more promising after trying it, bought a month, leveled to 80 and started to clear Naxx and quit because of what a joke raiding became. A friend convinced me to start again and I think the current raid content is fun, but still a shadow of what it could be. Also the game has become ridiculously simple. But anyway I'm geared for the final raid of this expansion, Icecrown. The patch is supposed to hit Tuesday, and honestly I can say that if the Icecrown raid does not show significant improvement from the quality of the rest of the content thus far, this will be my last month of WoW. Raiding used to be a fun challenge, but anymore its just a bore task. The bosses are so easy that the only reason people raid is to get gear. It used to be a fun and challenging experience where the gear was just a nice reward, not the main point of the trip. Nowadays people act like you are a noob if you don't have every single piece of your equipment at the current highest raid level. Sorry, but some of us do not find it enjoyable to kill the same bosses every single week and spend 10-15 hours a week in the repetative raid borefest, sitting around and just waiting for your luck to turn out so you get the gear. Also Arenas are completely terrible these days. If you aren't the right class, or one of your friends isnt, then one of you is going to have to make a new character just so your teams can work well in arenas. And last but not least, its so gay how the "Server" system works. I understand that it is how most RPGs work...but I love Runescapes system so much. If I meet someone IRL and find out they play WoW its always like "Oh, you play?? Sweet! Wait...what server?" And then they are on a different server than you, and you can't play together unless you pay 25 dollars for a transfer, or you take a month and level a new character on their server. The whole game is just not very conducive to fun. It can be very addicting and very time consuming....but if you take a moment and just look at your gear and say "Wait....WHY am I about to commit 3 hours of my life to clear this raid again??" Sometimes youll realize that you really arent having any fun at all. Yes, server issues do seem to be a BIG problem in WoW. Servers are always down. I would say that Blizzard has at least a 10% downtime. And the whole comment about being able to server jump on RS whenever you feel like it, ya that is really cool. In RS, what server you are on is not really that big of an issue, since chat AND the exchange are global. That is what really makes the grand exchange a powerful gaming tool... possibly one of the best tools in the gaming world today. Anyone can list from any server and sell to anyone on any other server instantly. Nether LOTRO nor WoW can boast about that. Which in some ways is better because you don't have global economy [bleep] ups. Only server economy [bleep] ups. ya that is true.

Okay, when I said "Mature" I suppose I was really speaking of the game engine itself, and the graphical complexity of the game. Lets face it, and schlub with 5 year old laptop can play RS. LOTRO, however or Dragon Age: Origins, or Assasins Creed, well that is a different ball of wax. But when I quit RS as a permanent game, the game engine was still a small 640x480 applet window. My monitor kept getting bwigger and the RS window kept getting smaller. So when I said "Mature" what I should have said was "Modern." At the time RS made me feel like I was playing a nintendo. Now it is more like a PS1. Don't get me wrong, graphics is not the end all of gaming, I think our discussion here has proven that. KLets review the contents of this post. Playing WoW follows a predictable pattern: kill crap to get levels/raid gearget drops and gold from the killssell/auction/vendor dump the unwanted drops for even more goldkeep the good dropsrinse and repeat endlessly for months to prevent yourself from looking like a noobThis cycle is great for people who love to fight stuff. I personally always come back to RS because I like all the other non-fight content. RS has an endless array of skills that are simple to understand. WoW has a rather limited set of skill content which is rediculously intertwined to the extreme.

LMAO "Elite Carebear" I love that!! I was not particularly fond of raiding myself. Now that the dungons have gotten begger and badder, it seems like in order to play, you are expected to be geared with impossible to obtain armor. Problem is that in order to get this armor you have to raid the big bad dungeon you can't get into since you do not have the armor. WoW had now become a big boys only club that new players have trouble raiding in.

What's funny is, now it's the exact opposite; we now have merchanters who drive price crazy high. Which do we prefer? It is not merchanters that make high prices. When someone buys out an item, they must dump them eventually. Theoretically, this price after the dump should be the same as the price before the manipulation. What causes the price to rise like the inflation we see is that with so much money entering the game. Manipulators drive the prices up, but with so much money sitting in their banks, players don't mind paying this elevated price. So while it is that manipulators that drive the price up, it is the inflation that keeps it up. What makes Runescape such an alluring game is the fact that it is simple. There is no really complicated mechanics that take a long time to master that would drive many newcomers away. Runescape is a simplistic, easy to access, low requirement MMO. This low hardware and software requirement makes Runescape a wonderfull 'intro to online gaming' for newcomers to the genre. A large part of what keeps people here is that you don't have to play all the time. If you are paying $15 a month for WoW, I would have a hard time not playing for weeks at a time just knowing my money is being wasted. With Runescape, the F2P game is large enough to keep you happy for long times, and even if you get members, that $5 a month isn't that much that you feel a cumpulsion to play based on 'wasted money' Ya the economy is the exact OPPOSITE of what it was two years ago. You could not sell a thing. I remember having to stand on world two in seers village for thirty minutes to an hour just to sell feathers or to buy dragon armor for a decent price. Now it is almost like an instant selling system. Instant money, sell anything you like, get rich!

I agree that it has made for a better community; however, I will never forget how much fun killing people in the wilderness was. I am sitting here laughing. Ya, the wilds used to be a scary place. Once a buddy and me loaded up our inventories full of useless crap. Stuff they don't even have in the game now. Like when you used to search in wardrobes in draynor or empty crates you would find junk. We loaded up on it... old shoes, busted swords, broken armor, broken glass from the drarven city, body runes, tin ore, soft clay, and 10gp each- stuff nobody wants. We took all this stuff and ran up into the members wilderness where some idiot was pk'ing anyone who tried to get into the little safe spot. I always wonder what he thought while digging through all the garbage we left for him... lol.

About two years ago, I permanently left RS to play other more gr'up (grown-up) games, like WoW and LOTRO. It was blast and I loved both games. So about a week ago I decided to make a new Runescape character and try out all the new changes that have happened in the last two years. The first thing I noticed is that leveling a character is now soooooo easy. OMG I could not believe how easy it was to blast through the first 25 levels! Especially cooking... no more endless click click click click click. Have they nerfed the leveling system? I remember how hard it was to level my first character to level 3o in all my melee skills. It seemed like it took forever! The next obvious thing is the absolute absence of 'bots. When I last played 'bots were the plague of the game. They were driving prices down so bad that most fish were worthless. Now all the prices are ridiculous! I got rich (okay rich for a noob) off of selling 1k stack of feathers for 15k each! I remember back in the day when feathers went for 4k per thousand. Everything is so expensive. Easy to get rich though. Oh, and I was able to do all the FTP quests with 20/30/5 on my melee stats. So, my final thoughts overall? I like the game. I like being able to sell stuff easily. I does not take much of a challenge to satisfy me, but I can see where this game might now be too easy for some people to enjoy. It has never been easier to buy just about anything you need if you have money. EDIT: So I spent the better part of the last three years playing WoW. I really enjoyed it. My main was a level 80 Warlock. I COMPLETELY sucked at Raiding, and could never get my stats right. I almost got in at the ground level with a group of buddies in a small guild, and was real excited about low level raiding when the guild exploded. the only way to get in another guild after that was to get charity runs and such in Naxx, and that is just boring to me. So I ditched the character, and retired it. Much of the discussion here compares WoW to RS. I suppose this is a really old discussion. Certainly not original. However some really good point have been made. This post by XXshady really sums much of the discussion up nicely. RS remain simple to play, and offers many options for casual players. If you have a burning desire for a customized playing style play WoW. RS is click click click.

INTRO I recently decided to create a defense pure. I found the experience enjoyable, and have made this guide to document my experiences, and share my thoughts on how to do it. Why someone would want to do this is beyond me... lol. I just thought it would be a challenge versus the normal RS leveling experience.Step 1: Tutorials Feel free to explore the tutorial area as much as possible. There is alot of easy training, and free stuff. Get acquainted with he game if you are completely new to it. In order to fully appreciate Runescape, you must understand its basic dynamics. Step 2: free stuff You might as well get all the free stuff you can. Keep your eyes open, as there are many things just lying around on the ground in the game. For example, there is a bronze medium helm in the kitchen in Draynor Manor. Also, in and around Lumbridge Castle, you will usually find upper level players giving away iron or steel armor sets they have made to level their smithing. I have done that before. And when playing a new character (on which this guide is based) I was lucky enough to receive a set of full steel. The free stuff you should be most aware of are free sample items carried by some of the npc vendors in the starting area: North of the castle is a small cluster of buildings. The general store there has a small selection of free stuff available, including a bronze dagger, tender box, and hammer. Get these. Also in this area is the fishing shop. They carry a free fishing net you should grab for future use. This is also where you can get fishing supplies for leveling your fishing skill later on. Get them if you have ended up with any money.South of the castle you will find "Bob's Brilliant Axes." Bob has a free bronze pick axe and a free bronze hatchet. Get these too. Armed with these things, you can now start your voyage to conquer the free world! Step 3: FTP Achievement Diary Next to the Lumbridge General Store is Explorer Jack. Go ahead and speak with him to start your achievement diary. Many of the things you will do starting out are on it anyhow. and you get a great achievement ring that gives your run stat a boost. Step 4: Bank Your Crap A long time ago... in a galaxy far far away, there was no free stuff from vendors. You simply were given a bunch of junk as a result of starting the game. A buddy of mine spawned as a a level three noob in front of Lumbridge castle after finishing up the Tutorial. He wandered around Runescape like the noob he was, having no clue what to do. He stumbled into the wrong NPC, got killed, and lost all his newbie gear, except for his sword, shield, and something else. Don't do this. Go to the top floor of the castle and bank your stuff. Don't wander around with all your stuff in your bag. It is a bad idea. Step 5: Deciding on stats You have to also make a decision at this point whether or not to keep your defense at 1 and be a real pure... or fudge it a little and level your defense to 5 like I did and wear full steel. There is not shame in a little defense. Just remember that a real pure means level 1 defense. You might get razzed a little for calling yourself a "pure" while wearing steel armor. As far as that goes, you might get made fun of anyhow for being a level 40 and wearing iron armor. Whatever... I was able to do all the FTP quests (except Dragon Slayer) with these beginning these stats: Level 20 AttackLevel 30 StrengthLevel 5 DefenseLevel 15 HP (...I think. Not too sure about this) I leveled my stats first to these levels. This made my combay somewhere in the area of 25. I then did all the quests. When done questing (once again no including Dragon Slayer), everything was magically at: 26 Attack31 Strength5 Defense26 HP Leveling Magic and Range up to, but not greater than your strength should earn you more HP without affecting your combat level much, which is very important for a Melee pure. Also I have decided to level my prayer to 13, so I can get "Super Human Strength" which gives a 10% strength bonus. I think it it worth it. Step 6: Gearing up I suppose you could skip this part, and go straight to the combat portion with just a bronze dagger. Some people like to make their own stuff, other don't mind buying everything. Complete this step as you see fit. But remember, this is a guide for a melee pure, with little or no defense. So armor will make the difference between life and death. I personally like to fight with a Battle Axe. At level 20 you can wield Mithril, and that will be your questing weapon, unless you want to level your attack all the way to 30. Obviously your decided defense level makes a difference here. I suggest getting to the point where you can either buy or make bronze legs, med helm, and square shield. At the very least do this until you can have a square shield to go with that nooby dagger, then continue to the next step. Step 6: Chickens That is right people, I said chickens! First off, chickens are easy to grind on. They are harmless. Only once have I seen someone get pecked to death. And remember, you will have almost no defense, so even fighting cows before your strength and attack reach a minimum of 20 WILL get you killed. You will run for the gate screaming like a little girl. I have first hand knowledge of this. Also, fighting chickens gets you three very important things in your quest to be a defense noob: Cooking level, Prayer level, and money. Selling feathers on the exchange is an absolute gold mine. At the writing of this guide they are going for around 15 each. On your trip to level 20 attack and strength, you will collect between 3k and 4k feathers easily. Do the math. that is between 45k to 60k in gold. Nothing for a noob to sneeze at. You can buy your full steel after just one load. Bones can get you that lucky level 13 prayer previously discussed. This is really optional, especially if you are watching your combat level. Do not underestimate the leveling power of raw chicken. I got to level 30 cooking on raw chicken. No joke. Do not just throw those raw chickens away. They will be essential to being able to cook your own fish later on. Step 7: Cows When you get your attack and strength to 20 -AND- have a full set of your chosen armor set, it is safe to fight stuff other than chickens. I worked on getting my strength to 30 so I could het harder, but if you want to work on other skills, go ahead. Attack is an honorable skill, and will be needed for dragon slayer later on anyhow. There are a number of options for things to kill. I like cows because of the leather they drop. It can be tanned and either used to level crafting, or it can be sold on the exchange. I recommend using it to level your crafting. Being able to make your own amulets and jewelry is very handy at higher levels, especially if you decide to bestow membership on your this account later on. Other things you could fight would be goblins in and around lumbridge, priests up at the monestary near the black knights fortress, and stuff in the security stronghold. Step 8: cooking, fishing, achievements I finished up my achievement to the medium level, and got my cooking and fishing up to 3 or so before starting my quests. This allowed me to catch and cook salmon, which is a good leveling fish. Level 40 is lobster, which is even better. Of course, you could just buy your food if you do't want to do it yourself, but what fun is that? :P This is also a good time to work on any other stuff you might want to get done before beginning questing. Step 9: FTP quests now you are ready for the quests... except for dragon slayer. Dragon slayer is a whole 'nother ball of wax. Shield of arrav is alsio hard, unless you have lots of online buddies willing to also create a new character and help you out. not too many low level noobs walking around. I did these in a kind of haphazard manner, almost at random. Use the guides here at tip.it if you get stuck. Step 10: Building HP So in order to build my hitpoints, I decided to level my magic and range up to the same level as my attack. I am not completely how this affects the whole idea of being "Pure." I am not sure if there is a official definition of pure or not. I think that it is perhaps cheating just a bit. But Hitpoints are crucial for low/no defense pures, and I don't mind. In Conclusion This is not the end all guide of guides. there are at least a half a dozen different ways to do this same thing. At the moment, I am getting ready to try dragon slayer. I will post more on that after I have played around with a few strategies. I read somewhere to get 50 attack and strength and it was doable. I hope someone found this helpful. Please post suggestions if I left something out.
