  1. Pretty simple really. I'm not really that familiar with Herblore, I got to 30 simple by making str pots, as I had loads of limp in the back from years ago and needed 25 for heroes. However, I'm getting to the point where I really could do with more pot boosts, so i'm deciding to lvl it. Whats the most efficent way of doing it? I dont have loads of goal, so really I'd need some method that would make some profit, or at least break even. TY in advance :D
  2. Bots, Hackers, you can even go and compare to Lockpickers. Every single one has a counter industry. And they always say they have found a way to stop all bots. Make your PC unhackable. Uncrackable safes. But its always the same. Anything made, can be unmade. As soon as someone gets thier hands on the new device, code, safe etc, they can find out how it works. And then how it unworks. You can only defend against what you know. If you have never seen anything fly, your not going have have guns pointing at the sky. Bots dont make the runescape encomy. They dont destroy it eiterh, they change it. Bots work raw materials. More Raw materials = lower prices for raw materials. This may in turn lead to things made from those rare materials falling if competitors drive the price down, but if they the crash, other things will go up (Rares mainly). If raw materials are higher, the reverse will happen, rare items will become cheaper. This is simple economics. The problem with bots isnt actually thier affect on the economy, because this generally balances out. The problem is with gaming balance. When Jagex designed skills etc, they have a set idea of roughing how long the average guy should take to get from 0-99. With too many bots, prices fall too much, and hense it becomes too cheap (and therefore too quick) too level, which it turn massively shorterns the time you will play for. Unless your a PVP fan, Runescape is pretty much a one run through, one character game. Thats why it takes soo long to totally complete. That what makes it different. WoW is a very similar game, but its a multiple run through. It a game designed to played multiple times, often through the same content, but each play will be different. Runescape is all about you as one guy really. So if it doesnt take an epically long time to get you character maxed, people wouldnt play for long. Personally, I think runescape in its current state is incredibly good a making bots unattractive. The biggest problem with bots in when people use them to gather game wealth and then sell game wealth for real cash. It allows people to pay to advance, which makes games infinately unattractive. And with the trade system the way it is... its very, very, very difficult to do that. I'd hanker then nearly any bot you come across now will be a single bot owned by a player. Hense, the best way for runescape to combat it is to work out which is the players real character, and ban that, rather then the actual bot accounts. So, I'd imagine in the case of the original poster, you'd want to ban the lvl66. Also, not all people that dont reply are bots. Sometimes I can just be an antisocial sob and just ignore people :P
  3. Do me a favour. Read the content of this thread. All of it. Then click onto the homepage. Then click on the first link under community. You'll then realise its a relevant issue, an issue that still has not been resolved. Then realise your attempt to boost your e-pen by being a smartass has tragically backfired in your face. Word of advice. Never act like a smartass, if you actually arent one. Tbh, I hadnt noticed the date on the topic, i just clicked a click on front page and got it. Realised what had happened, and figured i'd explain it so it could get sorted. Thanks qeltar, but its cool. People like that are water offs a ducks back. I've been on enough forums and seen enough guys like it, its by the bye.
  4. Are they all incorrect links? Its less a bug, more poor management. Both links are broken. They relate to community articles from 2008. Essentially, the original post have now been deleted (or something, its thread number is now different anyhow), and new ones made in thier place. This thread happened to be assigned the same thread number that the former news article thread had. Hense, its the right link. Its just that that link is now a different thread. The two news articles, both of which are very current, work fine. So like I said. Its not really a bug. Its just a strange quirk, that someone probably should have picked up on sooner. It doesnt really matter tho, your not missing anything, because its old news now :D.
  5. Hehe. Yeah, obviously I'll do what i used to do. Which was quite alot of mining and smithing :D And making str pots (Basic ones). The price of which seems to have gone through the roof. If I need quick cash, I thinkt thats the easiest one to do. By my rekoning, i can make about 1.8k per pot even if i AH the ingredients. And I generally have a nice stockpile cos I often train combat on the spiders to pick up eggs, and HGs drop limps all the time. I find Giant drops alot of herbs too. Its definately a skill i plan to work on, but theres a few i'm looking to get better first. Getting back into the swing. Everyone help has been great, nice to find a forum that nice to new people. Was expecting masses of sarcasm, and am pleasently suprised :) I'm gonna start doing quests once I get to 60 att, I seem to recall I'd done just about every quest tht i could I had done at the time i left, the rest required some major skilling up. I just wanna have soemthing red. So bored of rune, I'm pretty sure this char has never worn anything other then rune (which probably tells how obscenely old it is :P) Anyway, I should get my nose back to the grind stone if i'm gonna hit 60 tonight!
  6. Defender would be nice, but you need 130 Att+Str to get into the warriors guild, which i dont have :(. I shall certainly work towards getting one as soon as i hit that tho. I realised i could chaneg it, and had done so :D. Slayer/Combat is working quite nice. Slayer up to 14, and att is already at 56 (did some hill giant training too). This rate I should get 60 by tomo evening, and then i can start on the quests for dragon weapons. Should help me with doing the other quests that need you to take on some big lvl mobs.
  7. Just looked into that. I'm guessing the scimmy hits fasters and therefore steal proportanitly more damage. I'll look into changing that over now. Guessing I'll want a kite to go with that too. Thanks for the advice so far guys, its been muchly helpful :) Bad Luck on my part i think. Just got a slayer assignment. Green Dragons :( Somehow I dont think thats getting done for a while. I dont fancy getting ganked to hell in the wilderness.
  8. Slayer sounds good, should make grinding more interesting. And Hill giants, of course. I remember now I was grinding them in the edgeville dungeon i think. was a shortcut by the cooking guild iirc. I was gonna do Lost City, but figured i'd get my att to 60 first, then run it. Then might have to look into making money, but should be ok, i've got about 400k it seems and about 1k coal in the bank. Hopefully thats still as valuable as it was before :D
  9. I've now got the varrack easy achievement. So, now i'm an entirely rudderless ship, with no idea which direction to sail? Hasnt anyone got any suggestions?
  10. I think your right technically. In practice, its rarely the case. IMO, contact Jagex. Ask them, see if they have a problem with it. I doubt they will, as it doesnt really matter to them who pays. They make money the same either way, infact, its more likely to make them more money if you getting f2p guys that CANT pay getting them. The scamming issue is by the by, as its not taking place on a Jagex site so its out of their remit. If anyone would get involved in that situation it would be the police, and at that point its easily proved it was sent out by getting a mail reciept.
  11. Hey guys. Basically, I used to play this quite alot a long time ago, and i;ve played for short periods between then and now, but not for long time. I logged on teh other day, found an account i still remembered the details for, and started running around and decided to give it ago again. Problem is, i'm a bit lost. Everything changed so much, i'm rather confused as to where to start. I'd quite like to lvl my combat stats, since they are probably quite low compared to lots of the content now i'd imagine. Heres a basic run down of my char and his stats. Equipment is pretty much just full rune plate armour, with a 2h. got a pick and hatchet in rune too for mining/wc. Stats are. Str: 55 Att: 52 Def: 43 HP: 51 Magic: 48 Mining: 53 Smith: 40 Cook: 54 Fish: 55 WC: 54 Then the rest of the stats are at 30 or less. All the older skills are above 10. I have been working towards getting the varrack easy achievement for the armour the gives you better mining and smithing chances, but after that i'm not sure what to focus on. Always been my problem with this game, i just scat between all sorts and nver actually get anything done :P EDIT: Oh, I have got members too. Thats obviously going to make a diff in the advice givin i imagine :P
