I have done the quest required to be able to make claws but the option for claws never comes up when i try to smith bronze how do i smith them for the summoning pouches.

I have planted 2 willow trees and once full grown tried to get branches but when i use my secateurs on the tree i always get the message i need to wait for new branches to grow I have not gotten any branches off the trees yet. How do i get the branches?
