Alright! Thank you so much. Looks like I'll be re-subbing, changing my name and sitting my character on the bench for a month. Was reeeaaalllllly not fond of the name I had and would rather not have it on my account for my new friends to see. And I'd rather have any old friends that still have me added (after years and years lol) to just have my new name.

Will III_GENERICNAME_III always get to chuckle at X_GENERICNAME_X when he looks at his friend's list or will he eventually only see Doctor Pepper?

All friends before and after the name change? And there's no way to 'hide' the old name?

So I've been gone from Runescape for quite a while and upon coming back today (and looking through page after page of updates) I stumbled upon the whole display name thing. My only real question is what does it look like after I change my display name? Say my name is "X_GENERICNAME_X" and I change it to "Doctor Pepper" From what I understand people who had "X_GENERICNAME_X" on their friend/ignore list would see X_GENERICNAME_X and then next to it would be Doctor Pepper. (If this assumption is wrong please tell me) But what about people who add Doctor Pepper after the name change? Would they still see my name was X_GENERICNAME_X or would they only know me as Doctor Pepper? Display name is not username and I would still log in with X_GENERICNAME_X, correct? Sorry if this seems silly or whatever, I just am a little confused by it all. tl;dr If I change my name in game who (if anyone) can see my old name?
