  1. Probably days played, although I wouldn't be surprised if I got both.
  2. I will be attempting this on a second account, starting from scratch. Let me know any tips you guys have. Consider money a non-issue. Thanks
  3. Figured I'd shake things up a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX3J15Ei9GA&feature=channel_video_title Appreciate it if you guys would read what I have to say in the comments before hating. Good luck to Suomi, Tezz, Foot, and everyone else with a goal of 200m all skills!
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3DhnCbgJtA&feature=feedlik My friend Pale White (current RSN = DonBoggis) told me about his idea to Dharok Cave Crawlers today. I had never heard of someone attempting that before, I didn't even know the smoke stopped dealing damage at 10 lp either. I'm not sure what the actual exp is (he's not much of an statistician) but the video is definitely worth checking out.
  5. Chris, I like you alot, and I am not trying to sound like a [bleep] here, but I think this needs to be said. Every time someone on this thread seems to post about a new idea regarding efficiency, you seem to try and take credit (usually in part) for having the idea yourself. I do not know if this is your intention, but the way you word things often makes it seem that way. I would suggest you try to avoid this. You are no doubt knowledgeable regarding efficiency, but that does not mean you have to discredit others. Regardless of whether or not you did the calcs on the idea, you were not the one who tested/proved it. In real life, an idea is not worth anything compared to the proven concept. I don't know if you remember Zarfot saying all the time that most of the ways he trained he did not come up with, but seeing how in many ways your youtube channel has replaced his for efficiency videos, you may do well to try and emulate him in that regard. A little humility goes a long way. I apologize if I offend you by posting this, but I hope you heed the advice. My Dad once gave me some really good advice, which I think you may benefit from. He said "never let the fruits of success bring about the illusion of wisdom". Everyone has something to learn, and everyone has new ideas to contribute. Admitting you hadn't heard of a certain method before is never a bad thing. 1. Not offended at all (: Youve been a friend for quite awhile and said it in a non trolling way. 2. Would have rather u pm'ed me lol. 3. Rs forum -> Time for 5b xp pretty sure some posts on there of discussion of talking about barraging/chinning crawlers awhile back with thai but neither of us could afford it so we were looking for someone to test. Never said the chinning was my idea up there ^ believe it was thais if I remember correctly. Also last discussion about a new efficient method was fm ing with pyrelord didnt take credit for that either so id like to at least see a bit of evidence with your post if your really going to say that.. Also my post was a set up to see who says something about them knowing elvis or talking to him about the method so I could ask them to get the kill p/h results as well to incorperate it eventually into a thread me and a friend are working on making. Lastly nowhere did I take credit in my post about barraging crawlers point of that sentence is according to the guestimates I had before, meleeing should> barraging or be very closed so again, want to get elvis'es results on barraging. Fair enough, I can look back for another post like this if you want, but I'll pm you the page its on rather than posting it here. Also, I have to do this. "Also my post was a set up to see who says something about them knowing elvis or talking to him about the method so I could ask them to get the kill p/h results as well to incorperate it eventually into a thread me and a friend are working on making."

  7. Awesome interview Suomi, really enjoyed it. Also grats to foot on 200m hunter, and Tezz as well. I was talking to Lemar last night and he pointed out that there has never been a player who is rich, a "tryhard" (by that he meant a very efficient player) and a nolifer. It is that combination which is required to be #1? If no one has ever done it, then has anyone ever been close? I would say Zarfot had the tryhard and rich part down, but his 6 hour a day average was far from nolifing. That said, he was playing alot more during the few months up until he quit. Interested in hearing people's thoughts. Also, off topic, but @DustinHoffmanIrl Shocked by your vocabulary and prophetic ramblings (if I may call them that), I still find it difficult to believe you are actually Dustin Hoffman, posting on a runescape fansite thread. Not that I am judging you for that, but just the unlikeliness of that occurring blows my mind lol. That said, Rainman is one of my favorite movies haha.
  8. That made me lol irl :P Tezz a day away from 200M hunter, interesting to see what he trains next. Btw, is Tezz to poor to farm or just very lazy? probably a combination of him being lazy, poor, and cheap.
  9. You know rs has crashed when there are suddenly 60 people reading this topic, lol.
  10. Plural/singular maybe? Many being more than one mani being singular idfk Yeah that probably makes sence, on his alog on rs site it said i killed many mithril dragons, probably irc being nub :P, wekk your reply to my post makes the topic go even more off topic, dont reply to it if you don't want to L. O.T. I'm not sure if theres a bit of competition there between Tezz and Foot in hunter but it's been good tracking them, well done to both when they reach 200M next week. Knowing both of them fairly well, I can say this: Tezz did not care if Foot beat him as long as Chilly did not (Lol) Foot wanted to beat Tezz initially, but he was so far behind it would have been incredible if he did. He has accepted that its not going to happen, but he did close about a 20m gap. Grats to both as you said. O.T. who else is excited about the Suomi interview next week?
  11. I like the slayer day idea, but I'd rather start with a small amount (say 10m) staking, and go from there because that would probably end up being a larger amount for suomi. And I find staking more enjoyable than slayer anyways. I may actually vid it and do like a documentary =P. Obviously though, not everyone could do this because not everyone is a successful staker, lol.
  12. Anyone else notice the scary accuracy of Revan's post lol?
  13. I am shocked at the ratio of no voters to yes voters posting on this thread. I knew there would be more than 10% no voters, but its probably close to 60% no's and 40% yes on this thread atm. Then again, "I told you so" is a lot easier to post about. I think it is important to distinguish between botting and rwt as well. Many players are using the argument that both existed pre-free trade. That is true, but the extent to which they existed is incomparable. It is like saying "well there was ice before the ice age, so its not all that different". Pre free trade, the majority of bots were operated by people seeking to gain levels but too lazy to train themselves. Now, the vast majority of bots are operated by people seeking to gain real life profit by farming gold and selling it. This is a huge change. But the actually RWT is a completely separate issue from botting, although they are tied because bots are essential to many RWTers. Therefore, because it is evident jagex is not able to combat botters, they must turn to stopping RWT, which in turn, will cause bots to disappear. This was the case in 2007 with the initial update. But the problem now is, they are likely benefiting from RWT financially. They evidently got better lawyers to take care of the legal issues present with RWT and now they mostly enjoy the benefits of hundreds of thousands of new member accounts which are botted on. So I do not see them making any significant efforts to stop RWTing at this time, which is sad, although, because they are a after all a company, understandable.
  14. Now that it has been more than 4 months since the return of the wilderness and free trade, and the game (and its players) has had ample time to adapt to the change, I decided its time to make a thread asking how people are feeling now compared to about five months ago. Feel free to post whatever you like, what your vote was, whether or not you regret it based on what came with free trade, jagex (in)sincerity in the reasoning behind the update, etc. My two cents: I was in the minority of players who voted against the return of free trade and the wilderness. I am not, and have never been, a pker, and thus the wilderness aspect didn't really come into play for me (I didn't care one way or the other). But free trade, I was convinced, would be a terrible change for this game. Unfortunately, I believe I was spot on. In many ways, I am better off now than before free trade. I have amassed a small fortune staking (although I have had my fair share of losses), I have benefited from the relaxed prices on the grand exchange in that I have been able to purchase skilling items much more easily, and I now have the ability to help out friends with gp/item lends if they need them. But I wish it was never changed. Gp now has an attached monetary value, and thus greed (which was always present even when real world trading was not rampant) has gone through the roof. Scamming and hacking are now much more common, and new and creative ways to trick naive players out of their cash have arisen, such as dicing and flower games. And obviously, botting is out of control. Whatever it was pre-trade limit in 2007, it is 100x worse. It is actually affecting the vast majority of players ability to play and enjoy the game. How many training spots have you tried, only to find them filled with bots? I am extremely disappointed in jagex's decision making over these last few months. As many have pointed out, they have been profit driven and have been spoiling the game to achieve financial success. Their assurance of "state of the art" bot detection programs was a complete joke. Maybe they would have been perfect for stopping 07 bots, but guess what, bot programmers improved too, and evidently even more than the bot detection systems did. That said, I nonetheless decided to return to the game after a 2 month hiatus between mid february to mid april. After thinking it through, I decided to stick with the game through thick and thin. I enjoy it too much, and have invested considerable time into it, and bad decisions made by the company now running it does not offset the great game and community they have created for me to enjoy. However, botting (particularly for the purpose of rwting) needs to be dealt with swiftly, universally, and permanently, else I do not think I, or anyone else, will be able to continue to play. I do not at all regret my vote, and I highly doubt anyone else who voted no does. I doubt the same can be said for the other 91% of you. Please note: I don't really care if you disagree with my opinion, and I don't want you to counter my argument. Firstly, because I am right and I told you so...just kidding (or am I?), but please don't turn this into a flame filled post full of disagreement. Just post your own point of view and personal reflection on the issue.
  15. Not sure why Tezz's absence has stirred up so much controversy. Though, having known him for a long time, I can say that his not playing for a couple days is unusual, it is not unheard of. I still remember him going on vacation the very week godwars was released, and raging upon his return because he missed out on crazy profits (at the time) from dboots, lol. I haven't been in touch with him recently, so I don't know where he has gone, but Makilio's post a few pages back explains it, and should settle it because Mak's known him longer than I have, and I don't see why he'd have any reason to lie. Oh, and inb4 Foot out nolifes Suomi, Tezz, and all the rest of front page this summer for way more exp than anyone would expect him to get. The kids crazy, gl fut ;)
  16. Ive read that quite a few times, but not in a while. Very interesting read I would recommend if you guys have not yet. And n0valyfe is on my list, at #3 =P I am considering chessy as a possible 10th. I do remember defil3d, but I don't think her fame by itself on youtube earns her a spot in the top 10. I am also considering villandra, for her numerous achievements on "noob" accounts as well as her relatively brief time atop the highscores.
  17. Problem is, with his total, he has always flown under the radar. Which is exactly why he gets no recognition, apparently because he does not want it.
  18. K so I decided, since suomi is so mysterious, I will be hosting an adventuring trip to find his home in the icy wasteland that is finland. We will be starting at rally point alpha, Sander's house in Norway, and embarking on the icy journey on December 21, 2012. Oh and we will be using this method of transportation: NOW, who's with me?!!?
  19. Back before the wilderness was replaced with bounty hunter, and after RS2 became the main game, Pking was a lot different than it is today. Because training all combat skills was much, much slower, there were a lot fewer pures (because people resented putting in the effort to train to "perfect" pking stats). 3HitU was one of the first maxed pures (not sure exactly what type) and he was very innovative in his stats for the time. He was very low defence (I think 45 at the highest, but I feel like he was 1 defence for a while) and he ended up being a very successful and famous pker during his time. Many people tried to mimic his accounts stats so they could pk like him. But as pures became more and more common, and eventually, the norm, his fame declined. Its also worth noting that during the switch from classic to RS2, combat mechanics changed drastically, which further emphasized the innovation of 3hitu's account for his time.
  20. Well said, but I think the coolest thing is how, as newer players join the game, while they would be hard pressed to find Zezima on the highscores these days, his legendary status is passed on by word of mouth (er more like word of keyboard) between older players and their newer friends. This is truly unique, and I can think of no other individual whose fame and notoriety spreads in such a way.
  21. @3 Hit U After some thought, I decided against adding you in with the 04-07 pkers because, from what I remember, you were not quite the youtube sensation they were. You clearly would have made the top 10 on a "most influential/iconic pkers" thread, but I don't think I can put you on top 10 most influential/iconic players of RS2. Though I can say you did make it into my "famous players" screenshot folder back in 06 or something when I saw you at pest control =P.
  22. You are right, I certainly remember you and some of the lesser known pures (I think Urballzrmine was one?). Had no idea you were still around. Added you in with the 2004-2007 Pkers.
  23. I decided to make this topic because to me, discussion of 'legendary' runescapers is always an interesting topic. Before I go any further, I would like to ask that posts target only RS2 players. I have nothing against RS classic, but the majority of people that play rs now did not play classic enough to know who the famous players were. However, feel free to include any RS2 "icon" in your discussion. I can't really think of a way to organize this better than to make a list so here it goes. Here is my top 5 list, which I may expand to a top 10 later. I've added some explanation next to each name for why I consider each person to be influential or iconic. Also, sorry for the multiple names on 3 and 4. I didn't think giving the rank to one of those people would be fair. 1. Zezima-for the first few years I can remember playing runescape, Zezima was undoubtedly the man. He was on top of the highscores, and everyone knew his name. If he were found skilling in a certain world, people would tell their friends just so they could have a chance to take a screenshot of him, or catch him saying something. He was the only player I can remember that drew hoardes of followers everywhere he went. His private chat on video, which was (and may still be) on youtube is incredible, with the messages coming in so quickly and in such volume that it actually makes him lag. For the first few years of RS2 (and possibly classic, I unfortunately did not play then) Zezima was the king. 2. Zarfot-Having had the privilege of knowing Zarfot for several years, I can say with confidence that he epitomized and perhaps helped create the new direction that RS took in the last couple of years. The unparalleled expert on efficiency took old methods for training skills and combined them with his intricate knowledge of game mechanics to produce exceptional training methods that maximized exp output for time input. His RC, slayer, and thieving guides as well as his youtube channel helped educate thousands of people on how to train most effectively. He truly revolutionized the way people looked at training, and because of that, he became very famous in the last year or two. While his methods may be seen as involving much effort by many, they constitute the training style that the vast majority of high ranked players employ today. He created a whole new community of like minded players which ultimately became the basis for competitive RSers. 3. N0valyfe-Though not quite the legend that Zezima was, N0valyfe was certainly an icon in the early days of RS2. Though he started later than his counterpart, and did not play the game for very long, N0valyfe epitomized one of the first 'power skillers'. The speed at which he progressed through the highscores was unmatched for a long while. I still remember the day he shocked RS and passed Zezima in overall exp. In doing so, not only did he dethrone the king, but he proved that rank 1 was not a given, and that with enough work, achieving anything was possible. But in a humble act, N0valyfe quit shortly thereafter, allowing Zezima to reclaim his crown, in a sense conquering early RS2, but stepping down after doing so. 4. I Kasoy I/I Mahatma I/Elvemage/Kids ranqe/-Though I admittedly am not much of a pker, these four players collectively added a whole new aspect to Runescape through their unique pking styles and numerous pk videos. I apologize if I am omitting some of the earlier pk vid makers, but from what I can remember from 2004-2007, these were the big 4 names. Together, they formed the basis of all of the different kinds of pking that could be done and were the focal point of the pking community. Though their names may not be as recognizable as some of the above, what they did for the game and the game's association with youtube (which is a critical aspect nowadays) is constantly evident. 5. Sparc Mac/Nightmarerh/Tehnoobshow-The most iconic vid makers of today, these players are insanely popular and easily more recognizable than the top ranked players of today among the general public. Collectively, they head the Runescape-Youtube community of today, and thus, have much power through their influence over a large amount of players. Though there are numerous other popular runescape youtubers, these three are probably the most popular, and thus the most influential. 6. Gertjaars-Though he, like many of the other top ranking players, has since moved on from the game, Gertjaars was once one of the few players to hold both the rank 1 overall as well as the most exp overall crown. Even after quitting, his clan chat was filled with people for many months. But as quickly as Gert emerged into the spotlight, he left it, and thus he will likely see no climb in my top 10 influential players list in years to come. 7. Kingduffy-Though it may come as a surprise to some, the current rank 7 overall has been on the front page of the highscores for quite some time. If my memory serves correct, over 4 years in fact. Without looking up every person, I am fairly sure that he may have been the only one to do so. He also has claimed the rank 1 spot (correct me if I am wrong) on at least 1 occasion. His well rounded approach to skilling is very under appreciated by most, and I do not think it unfair to say that he has remained as loyal to the game over the years as anyone. 8. Durial321-The only person in the top 10 for his infamy, Durial321 was the perpetrator behind the now legendary 'Falador Massacre' on June 6th, 2006 (coincidently 6/6/06). His fame grew like wildfire although he was obviously permanently banned for exploiting a glitch allowing him to kill other players outside of the wilderness. As far as I have heard, this is the only that such a bug has ever occurred. Today, while most players may not remember his name, they almost certainly have heard of his actions. 9. S U O M I- Donations pls? Though he is fairly low on the list right now, I can almost guarantee that Suomi will be climbing in the months and years to come. Currently the only known player with both the goal and the playtime to achieve all 200m skills, Suomi also has a staggering lead over the competition in terms of total time left until he reaches said goal. Though his influence is as of now limited to those who know, or know of him, I fully expect his popularity and fame to skyrocket when he takes over the rank 1 overall spot in the coming years, that is, assuming people figure out how to spell his name correctly so they can add him. 10. Coming Soon-Need suggestions! In the Hunt-This section is for players who are very close to being on this list, but aren't quite there yet. Most of these are current iconic/influential players. Win All Day, Telmomarques Honorable Mentions-These go out to players who would have made this list during the peak of their fame/popularity, but have been somewhat forgotten because of inactivity in the game over the years. (in no particular order): Sediti0n, Yogosun, Duke Freedom, Iodio, Monkey Moejo, The Old Nite, Lilyuffie88, Thehate, Choppermad, The Old Nite, 3 Hit U, Uloveme, Cursed You, Fredmcgarry (Will add more later) Thats my 2 cents. Feel free to post your thoughts on players you remember but try to stick to RS2. Maybe even make your own list!
  24. For as much animosity as this thread generates between 3bo members and DGS, I think it is extremely beneficial for both parties involved in that everyone can learn something. Just like to mention a few things that came to mind recently. Having never dungeoneered with a true DGS team, I was wondering how no platers fair when running doors. As any good dungeoneer knows, having teammates who run keys is essential to good floor times. Most everyone in 3bo has a plate, and thus most everyone is capable of slapping on deflect magic, and running through 3-6 rooms if necessary on as little as 1-2 food, provided there are no hax rooms (where taking loads of damage is inevitable). I'm wondering how much more difficult it would be to run doors without a plate. Obviously, none of DGS soul split and stepping tactics would come into play because running through (non gd) rooms does not involve killing anything. Also, because of the plate binds, 3bo teams are easily capable of splitting up between multiple guardian doors, while the entire DPS idea behind DGS strategy seems to focus on the entire team (- the keyer perhaps) to be in the same gd. Obviously its better to do the gd's as a team, but the flexibility that the plate offers is valuable in my opinion. For example, lets say the keyer is off somewhere, and a big gd is opened at the same time as a jumpy, but the rooms are far apart. 3 people leave for the gd while one stays at the jumpy. Lets say the jumpy leads to another gd, but with only two monsters, a forgotten mage and a level 136 range skele. A 3bo member with a plate would easily be able to solo the smaller gd, and continue on the section of the map without having to move the ggs back. This would be ideal, considering the less the ggs has to be moved around the map, the less time is wasted teleing/moving it 1-2 extra doors etc, and the faster the floor is. However, a DGS member would have a very difficult time soloing the same room while praying mage because the skele would rip constant 150-200s. This is, in my opinion, a specific example that highlights the overall practicality of the plate compared to a rapier or gaunts as a third bind. As interesting as DGS whole DPS philosophy is, it just isn't very practical. For maximum effort and maximum dependence on ones teammates, a DGSer is rewarded with (assuming everything between two teams is equal) the best floor times. On the contrary, a 3bo team can put forth minimal (no turmoil) to average (turmoiling/soul splitting early on in hard gd's) effort and minimal dependence on the binds and ability of other teammates, save the keyer, and still get more than satisfactory floor times. One or two players on a team electing to go for dps binds hardly makes a difference. Its an all or none sort of thing. My point is this. The reason I am sticking with 3bo (and my plate) is that I want to put as little dependence on my teammates as possible. If they are 10 seconds late to a gd, or one guy is being an idiot and isnt there, it hardly matters at all. 95% of the time, I'm not going to die or use a great deal more food because of it. In DGS, it doesn't appear you have that luxury. All 5 members of the team need to be reacting as quickly as possible and doing exactly what they ought to for the strategy to work. And even if you were to find 5 such individuals, putting the same team in a typical 3bo situation would yield a very comparable (albeit, I admit, a slightly slower) floor. In absolutely ideal circumstances, a DGS team would trump a 3bo one. But anything short of near perfection on the part of the DGS team, and 3bo is better. Some things to keep in mind about people which I think make the idealist methods of DGS inferior are that the vast majority of people are inherently lazy, average intellect, and concerned primarily about their own agenda, and secondarily about the agenda of those around them. The principles of DGS go against all of these natural tendencies, and thus are far less likely to be worth while than the approach 3bo takes which clearly accounts for them. 3bo's binds reflect this, as the plate and 2h satisfy the laziness aspect. All you have to do is pray mage, and switch to crush for skeletons (and you don't even really HAVE to do that, because the 2h is so good anyways). The plate also provides a huge guard against death (and thus, exp loss), and thus reflects the person's desire to (presumably) get fast exp, although some people don't even really care about this lol. 3bo epitomizes the "almost the best, for a quarter of the effort" type of training that runescapers love. Why do people do pyramid plunder instead of blackjacking, or ivy instead of teaks/arctic pine splitting? This is the reason 3bo is a huge success. But do not get me wrong, as a player focusing on efficiency, I would often opt to go for the more intense yet more rewarding method of training. But that was always dependent on me, and not four others. That is why dungeoneering is different, and why DGS is, at best, an equal to 3bo. And because very few people are willing to work much harder for the same result, DGS will probably fail. Its strength now stems from its acceptance of <105(110) dg, not people's whole hearted support of its methods. tldr: If I could dungeoneer with 5 of me, I would choose the DPS methods DGS outlines. But since thats not a possibility, I elect to account for the extreme likelihood that someone on my team, at some point, will mess up, knowing that I will have some insurance against that through my binds and everyone elses. DGS is idealistically fantastic, and realistically disappointing, while 3bo is idealistically blind, and realistically practical. PS I made Foot a rapier today while he was keying, so no more of this spear bs lol.
