  1. @litterbug Fair enough, just started back to college and have been a bit busy. How would this work: Under each appropriate guide, i could place a smaller guide section dedicated to the faster more efficient ways. Then make a notice and label the original areas as a more traditional guide for grinders? To be honest I'm half thinking of finding an excuse to use this as a term paper (after much editing of course) if I could pull it off with the teacher, ha.
  2. @ hedgehog I agree that charts, graphs, spreadsheets, etc help. I also agreed in my last post that there are more profitable means to gaining a large monetary sum outside of skilling. The issue I take with leaving them out as a viable means for income is that not everyone merchants, pks, etc. Although things change the game is still mainly about grinding and there is plenty reason to profit while you gain skill. By working on profitable skills to gain materials to pay for or use for skills to level elsewise, you save time you would have to use gaining money to pay for that skill. So the basic question becomes do I save time by cutting ivy or cutting and dropping teaks or do i save money by chopping teaks and burning them while im there. Although by performing the first set of tasks I would obtain 99 woodcutting faster, by performing the second task I gain 99 WC and 99 FM. The same can be said for fletching in this case or fishing and cooking, mining and smithing, etc. I would horribly disagree that things in runescape aren't left up to opinion, especially when considering training skills. Everything you do each day on the game is based on your opinion of things. If you decide to follow someones guide for maximum efficiency, it is by you're choice. This tells us your opinion is that someone elses opinion is your best source of information on a given topic and your given to following their lead. This doesn't mean that they are right and it certainly doesn't make their way the best for you. My opinion is grinding is quite boring. Therefore when I am working on a task I find it easier to work on multiple skills instead of going straight for a single 99. Adding a mix of tasks keeps each skill fresh instead of tackling it hour after hour after hour. Someone like me would continually lose efficiency while grinding for long periods of time due to boredom and ultimately get sick of and avoid the skill altogether.
  3. 1) Most people would probably say merch it nowadays but good profitable skills include wc, fishing, and slaying. I would say rcing but until 65+ now doesn't seem worth the time monetary gain wise. You can flip small items in the market each time you happen to be in the area, just remember it comes with risk of not being successful (buying fire runes or air runes, etc., for x coins and reselling them for x+1 coins). Temple trekking has turned out to be a nice little profiteering game i've been playing lately with the herb trades or solely for extra exp with tomes (free exp = money saved for other things in my book). WC Yews or magics/mahogany if you've done deadliest catch. Fish lobsters or better though more money is made at the higher levels. Slaying you can start easily at lvl 58 slay on cave horrors looking for rare black mask drops. Higher monsters drop other rare specific items as well (Abbysal Demons drop whips, Dark beasts drop bows, Ice Wyrms drop staff of light, etc.). 2) As long as you do smoking kills, nothing comes to mind really. It enables you to make slayer masks and get rewards for slaying multiple tasks in a row. 3) If people have one like mine all you have to do is click on it to reroute you to the site to make one for yourself. Not trying to advertise mine or anything, just saying. You can always google search runescape stat banner or something of the like. Then all you have to do is post the code on the signature section of your profile. 4) Once I got my 99 I realized I didn't care about the cape. Personal Preference. 5) Devote your life and every second of it to....... just kidding. This is a sandbox game. The only "Pros" are the masters of efficiency, or pk, or some other small portion of the game. Don't waste time trying to be a superman when you can just have fun playing =).
  4. @Litterbug Agreeable on the need for pictures, and thank you for the appreciation on time spent. For now I want to finish the skill set then I will be coming back to each guide for updates intermittiently with advanced techniques and updates with newer pictures and efficiencies. To pick a few wouldn't allow it to be a little guide of everything ;). "It might just be that your target audience is not somebody just playing RS but probably those that are a little more familiar with it." : This guide was originally started as a way to help along a few friends who were newer to the game. I will however take this into consideration as it seems players more worried about efficiency will be at least well versed in some of the basics and I wouldnt want to disappoint. I'll keep the ideas on woodcutting and fletching in mind with my update when I add my next skill. As well as a credit for the additional thoughts. Thanks Again =)
  5. @ hedgehog Although I understand the reasoning on grouping the combat skills and am taking it into consideration (at the very least Attack and Strength as a "Melee category"), I space them so that newer players can focus on the basics of single skills. I very much appreciate the DPS Table you have made up and plan to add it in, if and with your permission of course, creditting you for those facts. As for saying the skills are not money makers would seem silly. Although not all skills tend to turn a profit, some skills are purely profitable due to the fact you go from having nothing to having something. These are the skills I'm focusing on so that new players that can't merchant and flip or pvp well have an option to make some money for future use. To be fair the runescape I grew up in and the runescape now has plenty of changes. I plan on reccomending ways for fast cash in later sections. For now to add in fast cash sections with so many skills untouched seems to be a waste. Basic understanding is the true knowledge that leads to the fast paced play of the more advanced players after all. As for the pictures, I promise to add them inbetween updates as I have time. Dealing with school and a full time job atm so the texts have just been written and added as I had time. Fair point though. The factual data portion may be an issue depending upon exactly what you want. For me to add charts and graphs for each and every sentence wouldn't be possible. However I would have no problem looking up and citing specific sources. To be fair : "Everything in this guide is based solely on my opinions and is not for everyone.". Although a majority of veteran players may find the lack of calculations and algorithims frightening to trust, most new players simply need guidance within their steps into becoing a stronger player. Again though, this will bee taken into account and dealt with accordingly =). Again thank you for the spreadsheet and comments. It will help with strengthening the guide and I truly appreciate it.
  6. I've been working on this guide for a friends site here and there but he has semi-retired and the sites been closed down. I will warn it's a bit..... wordy, but my intended goal is facts fed straight to you as quickly as possible lol. Just giving you a heads up before readers start getting into it. Any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcome. Flames/trolling will be ignored. Thanks Writers Notes Hello to all and welcome to Amduseias' little guide of EVERYTHING Runescape. I will attempt to teach you tricks of the trade in this guide to help you along your Runescape career. This guide is intended mainly for a new player who needs info about the skills in quick reads. Everything in this guide is based solely on my opinions and is not for everyone. If you choose to follow my footprint design I will GUARANTEE your success on becoming a better player. As you grow in levels, your knowledge of the game will grow as well and you will be better suited to making decisions of your own. I hope the best for all who read this and apply it to their gaming strategies. The guide contains many things from my own personal experiences as well as the many things I've learned from a multitude of sources. I will attempt to compile them for you in a presentable manner that will teach you what I have learned. I don't disdain people for wanting to look into more in-depth guides once they find their niche, but this guide is not for that. Again quick information. Best of luck and happy scaping. - Amduseias Due to the request being made I will be modifying my guide a bit to include two subsections per original section. One will be a traditional grinders guide for playing while the subsequent section will be more associated to speed leveling typically at a cost to players. General Combat Information A somewhat brief overview of weapons Melee Defence Ranged Magic Constitution Prayer Slayer (Members Only Skill) Summoning (Members Only Skill) Skilling Prologue The Money Makers, CHA-CHING! Fishing WoodCutting Fletching (Members only skill) Thats all for now, if i see a decent response and get some ideas forming I'll continue on. We'll see how it goes =P. Thanks to everyone who's taking the time to read and give a response.
  7. Hi, I recently joined the forum after being a long time user of the tip.it site. My main focus for doing so was the intent on re-releasing my guide that has up to this point been solely posted for a friends site. His site has went down however and he hasn't been active lately, so it occurs to me to give it to you (if your willing to accept it). I'm just not 100 percent sure where I should post it for now. If a mod happens to have a chance to spot me an answer I would be most appreciative. Not only for the fact that you might take the guide, but it may give me incentive to finish the guide. Thank you for your time, Amduseias.
  8. What does dropbox mean? Thanks for your ideas I might try a few of them. dropbox = bank deposit box sorry. to many games mixed up in my head lol. in some banks like ardougne for sure there is a deposit box in the corner. You can put items into your bank, just not take them out, so no pin is required.
  9. Gnomeball!!!... j/k that might entertain you for 5 mins though. I would suggest peng tours (mostly free teleports by the leader or if asked nicely i have no* doubt there would be a way to borrow some teleports with your story atm.). Cut and burn logs or fletch logs, no bank needed. one log can buy you a knife or tinder. Borrow a random weapon in GE and prayer train at armored zombies or collect herbs to sell at druids while pray killing north of taverly. Pyramid plunder wouldn't be to difficult but probably more hassle then its worth. Sorceress Garden for herbs or squirks and drop them in a deposit box. Steal some cakes at ardougne and train agility or thieving with them. (north is barb agility, west of cakes are guards for coins, dropbox them). Hopefully something there is worthwhile, gl. =) Stealing creation requires a team, just go to a SC world
