  1. Note quite true. It was based on the fact that tier was the most viable business model to make continued gains from. Then add in sudden move to front page, in-game ads and heaps of social media spamming when the vote started to flat-line Then add in that the 750k tier was basically entirely moved down to 500k tier when it became obvious it would not get that high. Then add in that even though the poll was 'to gauge interest to looking into doing it' they suddenly spent a mass of time and delayed TWW to get servers live as the vote dipped again. Then add in with the vote still flagging they said in QAs if it got within around 20k of a tier they'd do it anyway. Then suddenly despite being 50k short of the 'no extra charge model' its suddenly free for 6 months. Yes it is somewhat assumption based - but all the evidence points to Jagex doing everything they possibly could've (short of adding fake votes) to make the top tier 'no extra charge' model happen because there is a very clear chain of PR moves that altered the original conditions of the poll and all worked to push towards the top tier stuff, after it was moved down to 500k I certainly agree that it seems as though Jagex wanted as many votes as possible. There is, in fact, not a single piece of direct evidence that Jagex has been rigging the votes (not saying you're saying so) or had planned the outcome of the vote. I would be very careful to make either of these statements come off as absolute truths, which is what it seems certain people are doing.
  2. For example: Some are suggesting that Jagex intended to give players all the benefits of the 500k threshold regardless of the outcome. This was based, if I'm not mistaken, on the 'fact' that Jagex had done the same thing with the Wilderness poll. If this is not an assumption in your book, then I'm afraid what I can do to convince you.
  3. Yet again the thread ends up assuming a variety of things based on previous assumptions. It's a fun read, though.
  4. Why does it say a lot? Raising awareness via clever marketing is an age-old strategy, used by every successful company in the book. Clearly, the demand for the game is there, and Jagex spread the word.
  5. To be fair, with the way votes were slowing down early, 204k wasn't a bad projection. Jagex just showed they still know a thing or two about marketing.
  6. I never presented it as evidence. I merely pointed out that the assumptions made about RS07 players aren't, from my experiences so far, accurate. Edit: I might add that the biggest douchebags I've encountered so far are people saying 'gg' when beating me at the last bit of the Gnome Stronghold agility course.
  7. On a completely different note: Anyone up for Shield of Arrav? :)
  8. Then I guess any discussion between us would become fruitless. It really is hopeless trying to respond when you just spew out a bunch of exaggerations and assumptions.
  9. Yes, I will find the outspoken players who fit his description. That doesn't necessarily mean that the general player base behaves like them. If you play the game, you will find hordes of people who do not whine, complain or anything like that. You will find dozens upon dozens of people who are just enjoying a game. Btw, I've been both on the RSOF and on here since I heard about the possibility of RS07, and to be quite frank, I find the attitude of those pro-07 to be far better.
  10. You may very well find them to be true, but I don't. After actually playing the game and having conversations with various people I've never met before, those assumptions ('generalizations') couldn't be more wrong. I have yet to find a whiny person, nor a hardcore nostalgia purist. Though, I have found people with concerns about the game as it as right now, who I have discussed possible updates with to fix minor/major problems with. But maybe I haven't looked in the right places.
  11. I disagree. I believe the silent majority will decide which updates will be passed, IF the poll reaches 500k (or 480k/whatever the benchmark really is), not the 'whiny PKers and hardcore nostalgia purists'.
  12. Which shop(s), if I can ask? I honestly can't remember rune scims being avaliable in shops, so I'd really like to know!
  13. Then I'm certainly not complaining! Now I just gotta get 40 attack to wield it. Only one level to go!
