  1. It seems I'm receiving mixed opinions on the paintstroke effect filter. Some like it, others don't. I personally like it so I'm not removing it but I've got a few ideas on how to improve so I'll repost the modified version sometime soon. I'm going to attempt manually placing some "paintstroke perspective" to make objects further from the camera have smaller strokes and slightly adjust the splatter in some areas, such as the yellow flowers to the left, so it doesn't bleed so much.
  2. Piece 18 (DeviantArt) Feel free to comment. One person didn't know what the image was talking about so I'll add my reply to his question as well.
  3. I personally do not like it, and I'll tell you why. Firstly, you've used a uniform texture throughout the entire terrain which makes it look very monotonous, default and unrealistic. The shape of the mountains is also very unrealistic and unattractive, as well as seemingly random, and there are no mountains or hills of any sort behind them. The water level is also too high because terrain seldom enters water at a gradient of steeper than 45 degrees or so. Usually, it's much closer to 10 or 20. I personally do not like the colour scheme of the sky, but that's more of an individual opinion. The text font and colour don't fit well in my opinion because they don't blend in, and there is no border around the image itself which makes it look unfinished.
  4. I think it must just be my monitor then because I can read the text perfectly. My brightness, contrast and/or gamma must be set higher than normal (whatever that is). Thank you for the comments everyone. I appreciate it.
  5. I did everything myself except for the ruby/glass heart bit in the centre. It's impossible for me to make it that accurate and smooth using only metablobs and/or boolean modelling so I had to use a premade model.
  6. It's been a while... Stereotypical, I know. But you know. For some reason, I started making this piece at 3am a few days ago and I stayed up until 8.30am working on it. I would normally have been falling asleep on my keyboard, but I was actually wide awake, though I did realize my eyes were aching to bits when I stopped working on it. The night (or morning?) after, I worked on it again from around 1am to 5am and went to bed at 8.30. I worked on it a few hours today as well. This is the first digital art piece I've actually posted in a while I guess.
  7. Avatar: 1/10 Signature: 2/10 The signature is simply a screenshot taken from RS2 with some text slapped on. You've paid little to no attention to a colour scheme, seeing as you've used all three primary colours. No attempt has been made to blend in the text, at least no apparent visible attempt. The text initially appeared to be randomly placed, but I now realize that you've aligned your username to the left and the stats to the right. Possible points for improvement include: - Choose a colour scheme and stick with it; don't just smack on all three primary colours. - Blend in the text somehow... Perhaps change the colours? The font? Perhaps position it somewhere else? Maybe give the text an outline? You decide. - I would suggest making the text smaller so the alignment becomes more obvious... - I, personally, would add a 1px black border around the edges because it gives the signature a completed, finished look... This is a purely subjective viewpoint though, so feel free not to add one. The avatar is simply a part of the signature, so I won't comment on it.
  8. I could launch into a massive explanation as to why I believe what I do but I'll keep it brief. I personally believe abortion SHOULD be allowed and it should be used whenever the parents don't want a child, for whatever reason. Why do I believe this? I believe that human life starts ONLY at birth. Life begins at conception (NOT human life!), but human life is only after birth. Now, we kill things that are alive all the time without thinking about it. We kill and eat plants and animals all the time. Why should a foetus, who isn't human, and shouldn't be considered one until birth, be treated any differently?
  9. I wouldn't say you're an excellent artist to be honest, although you are definitely above average. Those tutorials are informative, albeit short. If you want to check out some of my work, go to: http://theakman2.deviantart.com/ My latest work has been done using Vue D'esprit, so you'll have to search through my gallery for the older terragen images...
  10. I agree... Unfortunately, getting rid of the grain is not easy. The only way to do it is to render the image again on a higher quality setting, which would take 12 hours. I can't be without my computer for 12 hours!
  11. Here is the link to the image: http://www.deviantart.com/view/9825741/ Feel free to comment either here or on DeviantArt :).
  12. This is all my stuff lol. You can check out my deviantArt page if you want (theakman2.deviantart.com). Keep bidding people. I'll stop the auction in a few days.
  13. Payments can be either in RS1 or RS2, although RS1 payments are strongly preferred. Once payment has been received, I will add your text and remove the 'sample' stamp. Please, bid away and thank you! :)
  14. Please don't abandon this topic Celeste. At least have the decency to announce the winner, even if you don't intend to pay the person.
  15. I used to be 'theakman2', but now my alias is just 'Theak'.
  16. I'm curious to see how you've improved actually. I haven't seen your work in at least 4 weeks :P Let's see if you can beat my 'Daily Deviation' landscapes though :D Thanks Celeste. The last landscape signature I made was 9 months ago :P
  17. I'm decent at making landscapes, but appalling at making signatures. If I do win, give my money to Nadril if he's entering. If he isn't, give it to Demoris. I don't even play RS2 so money in it would be pointless...
  18. I'll make you a quick one using one of my previously made landscapes. Don't worry though, nobody else has used them and they will be completely unique. Hold on a second...
  19. To be frank? It isn't that good at all. It's not only very basic, but also very small... Things you should improve: - Mountain ranges and the sea don't just end that abruptly (right of your image). - When is the sky ever purple? You may be trying to achieve an abstract effect but if you are, it isn't working... - There needs to be a texture on the mountain range. - My opinion only, but there should be a larger variation between highly and lowly lit areas so reposition the sun. - There should be more mountains behind those mountains. - What mountains have you seen that delve into water at 70 degrees from the horizontal? At most, there is a 30 - 40 degree slope. ________________________________________ If you want tutorials then go on Google and search for Terragen tutorials. If you want person to person help, then ask Nadril if he can help you (only if he is willing of course) - he is now getting fairly adept with this program so he should be able to offer some helpful and useful advice. If you still need help, come to me since I was the one that instructed Nadril in his early stages for the most part.
  20. In my opinion, it's still unrealistic because you don't know the source is there, and you can't see it.. Perhaps if you just zoomed out a bit or something you could preserve the overall integrity of the peice, and still show what's going on. Also, something I just noticed.. Given where the lighting is, the rust on the gutter seems to be gouging in rather than going out. It also looks rather "Photoshop-bevelish", if you know what I mean. Actually, the rust is gouging in... I must have accidentally reversed the bump-maps  . I don't really want to fix that because it would another 10 hours to render. I don't have that kind of time unfortunately. Yup. This piece is not meant to be perfectly realistic - I just wanted to convey the feeling of melancholy with a 'night - time' feel...
  21. The moss is extremely difficult to do, but I'm trying. Hopefully, it should be sorted out soon... As for the 'unrealistic' lighting above the archway. There actually is a lantern up there and you used to be able to see it but when I reduced the height of the image, you couldn't see it anymore... However, just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's unrealistic. Also, removing it is out of the question! That single light provides over 75% of the lighting in the scene! Thanks for the constructive criticism though.
