Update: I forgot that the purple runite items were documented on cut content wiki TCRF. There were 5 items that got the purple runite treatment. There's also two early sprites for the Dragon Longsword and Battleaxe:

Don't know to edit posts on mobile but I forgot to note that the only items with actual purple runite sprites in the cache were the full helm, the long sword and the plate body if memory serves me right. None of the other items had proper purple runite sprites made.

Regarding the image of purple rune items on https://www.tip.it/runescape/times/view/619-forever-runescape-part-2 Thought I should let you know that image is not legitimate. How do I know? I'm the one who created that image nearly 20 years ago for the RuneScape Wiki. I did the color sampling wrong which resulted in the items coming out more purple than they should be. The entire reason I made the image was a "what if" type of thing to show what a full set of purple runite gear would have looked like. I am honestly surprised the image has survived this long, and even more surprised that it made its way onto this website at some point.
