  1. Fable is hardly the first game to include morality. Besides, EVERY game borrows from other games. There is very little thats actually new and unique to runescape. The morality Idea is actually quite different then the one in Fable. In Fable morality effects your looks and the way people react to you. A good player can use the same weapons and armor as an evil character. Titles are bought with gold, not earned. The Morality in Runescape idea lets characters weild completely different weapons as well as making suitable weapons and armor better. Besides the basic concept Fable morality and Rune Morality don't have much in common at all.
  2. Why not add a morality "skill" to the game? It seems like a very logical update. -Basics- Your Morality could be determined by what monsters you kill and what you say to NPC (think fable). Some quests could effect your morality by offering you two ways of completing them . Instead of normal skills morality could work kind of like a Triangle, each side being good, evil or 'true neutral" NOTE: you start in exactly the center Not at "true neutral". By killing unicorns and doing rude things to them you slide towards the "evil" point and by Killing hellhounds and saving babies you slide more to the good point. To get devotion points you would seek out your gods temple and he would give you a task (a la slayer). The task could be something level apropriate and in character (Kill 102 greater demons (Sara) or Slay 78 Griffons (zammy). With a bit of work the tasks could go beyondthe basic kill "108 creature x" . Maybe "steal 300 seeds from the farmers (zammy)? Followers of Guthix could become "true neutral" by doing a mix of both (whatever the ever wise guthix sees fit to ask of you) Gaining devotion points to one god means becoming more distant from the other 2 (or more????) -Quests- While monster slaying will effect your morality the bonus could come by quests. Some quests could have multiple solutions that give you boosts towards your gods point on the triangle. example: Good-Sara Sneek into the convent of dark mages to rescue the widows lost son. Evil-zammy Join the convent and help them round up the artifacts for them to complete their human sacrafice ritual Guthix- Neutral Kill the mages, rescue the boy, kill the boy. balance is restored :? (trade the boy for an evil artifact you quest for) Quests with a single solution dont effect your morality. -Rewards- A long with the debut of the morality skill would come new weapons and "god" equpment. Near the centre of the triangle you cant use much, just the gods basic equipment (holy/unholy/guthix ammy) But as you dedicate yourself to a single god you unlock more of that perticular gods armory. The bonus for that gods equipment increases while the bonus for the other gods equipment decreses. A devout disiple of Zammy would get +12 to prayer while he wears a unholy symbol but only gets a +4 if he wears a holy or guthix ammy. He is also able to use some weapons that someone devoted to other gods or none in perticular can use. -PKing- Players get morality points for killing those dedicated to other gods. This would encourage team work and clan wars (a sara clan vs. zammy clan) THe easiest way to tell what fraction players belong to (besides equipment they were using) would be their "title". Their Title would refelect their allegiance and their devotion. The titles could be shown in different coulors based on what god. Example A new devotee of Sara "Jageds the Charitble" A new devotee of Zammy "Jageds the Brutal " A new devotee of Guthix "Jageds the Natural " A very devote sara "Zezima The Paladin of virtue " A very devote Zammy "Zezima the Harbringer of Doom " A very devote Guthix "Zezima The Drude of Balance obviously there would be a bunch of titles in between gradually gaining in coolness ;) The game might have to be tweaked a little, maybe a few high level "good" monsters to kill etc... I hope i managed to get my ideas across clearly. Comments?
  3. Long time reader first time poster :) Though i wouldn't be surprised if it has already been said, Jagex seems to have decided on their inflation fix. In my humble opinion the barrows items are the first real money sink in a long time. Jagex seems to have got people to finally start giving their cash back to the nether world of shops and npc's. If Jagex keeps the primo items and armor degenerating they'll have a reliable way to pull some of the high alch spawned cash out of the economy. This seems like a good fix to me. The only problem is that for the moment only the high end players are footing the bill. The medium-high lvl players probably havnt got there hands on the barrows equipment yet this might (though unlikely) cause a temporary wealth "bubble" with the medium high lvl players having unproportinate amounts of wealth. The very low lvls buy their armor from stores (their sink) and the high lvls have their degenerating equipment But the mids and the high-mids might be less affected. I apologize for stating the obvious to you RS savants, these are just my personal incoherent rambalings. Feel free to correct me ( i know you will! ) :)
