  3. in general, the same subjects are covered. there are only a few technicalitys otherwise all students who graduate wouldn't be generally skilled in the subject. what the hell do u use chemistry for in electronics? as physics is more my forte i can see how physics has everything to do with electronics, but chemistry...(?)
  4. in short (to the best of my knoweledge :P which aint so good) parental control is a group of settings u can check so ur users dont look at any offensive material. these settings include anything from animated violence to hardcore porn filters. i think these sites are updated constantly from users of the software 'reporting' site and categorising them. i think u can choose certain sites that u want as an 'exception' while still keeping the setting enabled. yea, its is2004 aswell. priv contol, ad blocking, antispam, and parental control (my dads like, mega paraniod...i looked at what was disabled one day and i noticed that "weapons" box was ticked, i had to untick it. might i also mention that a not so long ago i was hoping to do direct officer entry for the army) are all active atm. ive tryed logging onto the site with all of these setting disabled and got nothing.
  5. i jsut wondering if ne1 is or kno some who is/did a degree in electronic engineering. i really jsut wondering what the course structure is like (what sorta math, science, engineering)
  6. its norton (net security) but it shouldnt really make much of a difference as ive already tried it with the firewall disabled. a while ago one of my teachers said it could be something to do with the bios but as soon as that word was mentioned i sorta tuned out coz i havnt absolutly no experience in that area :? i also got a reply from the tech support today. they said based on the info i gave em (what ive already said) they "have no solution" to my delema. could it be that the info ive provided isnt as detailed as it should be, or am i doomed to live with this problem forever?
  7. ok, ive tried firefox, my security and privacy tabs were already on medium, got the windows update and deleted the temp internet files and cookies, and files in internet options (as it does automatically each day). still nothing, i might try ringing up my isp in the next week, but any other suggestions until then'd be good aswell.
  8. ok, for a while now ive had this site i cant log into and its really now becoming a pain in the arse as i cant really go else where everytime i want to sit a 'weekly test' (one has to be taken today :? ). in the past ive got to a mates and i starting to think im taking him for granted. nuff said, heres my prob: the url is http://cisco.netacad.net (redicrects you to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/learning/netacad/index.html) when i attempt to log in using the academy the page jsut refreshes (back to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/learning/netacad/index.html again with the fields empty) i can log into the site from practically any other computer with the net. when i put in a wrong user OR a wrong password it direct me to another site that says my user or password is wrong. im operating win xp with IE6(? i think, neways it should be irrelevant, they claim they support all browsers...or at least this one), ive disabled all firewalls, updated flash (*shrugs* i was desperate and i heard a friends of one of my teachers couldnt get on to the site and this fixed it), enabled all cookies, updated java (the password checker site is .jsp, prob didnt make a difference). also can i not get any adamant people telling me to use another browsers (i can have an insecure comp if i want!), jsut thougt i mention b4 i have to tell some1 and last but not least, ive already been in touch over the last few weeks with ciscos tech support group (operated by alot of those robots from lost in space), my it essentials teacher and my dad friend (did troubleshooting for ibm for over 10yrs) and all of them cant solve it. any other suggestions would be great, thx.
