  1. A bit melodramatic, no? They've stated their reasons for acting as they have. I don't agree with all of it, but that's rather over the top. What you and a few others don't get is that most players never WERE engaged with those activities. In fact, most players disliked merchants and PKers, and didn't care much about duelers only because they kept to themselves. So there's not nearly as much to "get away with" as you seem to think. Well, that's a rather interesting thing to say in a discussion about rares. For ages everyone seemed to justify buying rares on the grounds that they will "always go up in value". Isn't THAT basically getting rich with no risk? And before the recent changes, merchanting was ridiculously easy. Just as the old quip goes that a sign of the impending stock market crash in '29 was when the shoeshine boy was giving stock tips, I felt that merchanting was similarly due for changes when EVERY guide to making money pretty much flatly said that merchanting was the only way to go. Now, I don't necessarily agree with Jagex's decisions about the GE and controlling the marketplace; in fact, I've argued against it. But if you think that most people are unhappy about the demise of merchanting in this game (to whatever extent it has demised) then you're deluding yourself. It IS beneficial to them. And while you seem to denigrate people about being concerned over losing items, that's human nature. Why would people like losing things? So what are you actually disagreeing with? The analogy made, which is accurate? Are Jagex not trying to control the economy with recent updates? The only disagreement i see is that you think of merchanting as a no risk venture which is not true. People buying one or two rares and holding them to make a long-term profit is not merchanting. The only form of long-term buying and selling that can really be considered merchanting is when a person or group of people decide to buy up one type of rare to deplete the number of sellers, thus rising the price. Merchanting is not an easy game unless you know what you're doing and then its still risky, having to speculate on the markets and so on. It requires a great deal of work with keeping up with the prices of the items you are using.
  2. Instead of plugging more items to keep peoples minds momentarily off rares, and keep them under control this more permanent solution is at the expense of all aspects of the game that were not monotonous. Its like you said, its like Jagex's team have been looking through their history books and have seen the value in some of the policies of China, the USSR and other totalitarian states. The sad thing is however, most people are completely disengaged with merchanting, play killing, dueling and so on. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s likely they will get away with it. Those players have always bored the hell out of me though; it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s like playing this game for the mundane purpose of getting levels with no risk. People are far to concerned with not losing their items and will probably see this as beneficial to them. Jagex has only made this dull and unexciting for those who did get anything more than levels out of it, which is too few to worry about.
  3. If its really an issue of choice let those who do not agree with abortions, choose not to have them. Those that do agree with abortion, choose to have them! Its not a case of majority against minorityand limiting peoples choices. Its a case of medical research to make sure it is safe and the opinion of the person having it. It has absolutley nothing to do with anyone or anything else other than the parties involved. As for presidential elections, all the republican candidates seem unappealing. Either through policy or as a person. So I would go with a Democrat. I think that whoever it is needs to focus on America and humanitarian aid efforts and global warming rather than exporting democracy. They need to be laissez faire so to speak with many issues abroad.
  4. Damn, I'm not sure. Im scared. Hold me.
  5. How can i possibly live up to that? :P
  6. Its true, thats probably the greatest first kiss story i have ever heard.
  7. Well your thread in General will certainly be a test of ethics for tip.it. I commend what you are doing.
  8. Jesus, they send cases like this to court, do they not know how much litigation wastes tax payers money? Seems like you should have entered some form of mediation. Anyway sounds like a case for the civil courts, so no I severely doubt you will get a criminal record. The most maybe would be that you have to pay reperations.
  9. What a ridiculous thing to base life on, anime. At least realize reality through reality.
  10. I perhaps could have seen where you were coming from, if this was not born out of anime.
  11. Diminished responsibility is only applicable to murder charges here, over in the USA they do not have it, they have first and second degree murder. Since he did not shoot, or kill anyone it would fall under self protection i assume. I reckon he'd probably get away with it if he was taken to court by the person. Details in a case like this would make all the difference though, and the fact it was his party that approached the person in the first place may mean he could be screwed. I reckon its unlikely this would ever get to court.
  12. I hate this stupid argument its almost revolting.
  13. You have a lovely view of human beings.
  14. The argument itself is very interesting; it does not really prove anything and at the same time can not be disproved. Descartes relies more so on perfection than on concepts that do not exist like the tooth fairy. Since perfection is arguably the sole attribute that God possesses, and it can not exist in our world. So he would assume through the principles of cause and effect that we could not imagine anything attaining perfection. So I would say that you misunderstand Descartes argument Str0wez. In the context of his work it is a bitter disappointment, as an argument alone it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s irrelevant. I would argue against it by saying that Descartes relies on circular logic, assuming the existence of a perfect being before he proves him. You could also argue that we do not know perfection. All we know is qualities that we have, and we amplify them so they transcend anything that is physically possible like omnipresence, omnipotence ect. It however does not mean anything external has placed these things in our heads, since we know of them ourselves through our own actions. There are many arguments against Descartes trademark argument, but they all fail to really disprove what he says since it can not really be disproven.
  15. I think Descartes used such poor arguments to rationalize the existence of God in Meditations to show that it is completely absurd to undertake the task. I mean the first few chapters of his work is an incredible insight which revolutionized and brought forward philosophy into a new age. As soon as he starts babbling on about God he undermines his own method of doubt and his work after that becomes nothing but an interesting bitter disappointment.
  16. I somehow managed to spend almost 100 pounds in three days, so nothing until i get money through on the 22nd of December. Or i could go into my overdraft, i guess.
  17. You have an interesting life.
  18. Yea, it's great huh. :) The Breathless scene made me shiver as well. It was amazing. Same goes for basically every other scene with the archive material of famous movies. I recognized Scarface, but I think I wouldn't have answered either. :P It's pretty funny hearing yourself in bed yelling "Top Hat!" "Breathless!" "Scarface!" etc. :D If you liked The Dreamers a lot. I suggest you also see Les Enfants Terribles, since the Dreamers has got a lot of similarities to this movie. But Les Enfants is more intimate than The Dreamers. It got released on criterion a couple of months ago. :) I love The Dreamers, at first i was like indy, hoping this was not going to be some film maker paying homage to his influences, but it was really intense in a french drunk kind of way. Interesting, and the end was enjoyable as I do like the sight of the French protesting on the streets of Paris. However its hardley a rariety.

Yeah, British version probably my favourite show. Just for the incredible amount of subtle humour. American version i have seen a couple episodes of, but the orginal was almost perfection and i doubt it could beat it.
  20. Why don't we have a 'ZzZzZ' emote? Nirvana are not only boring as hell, to me at least, but they are completley over rated in comparison to other 'Grunge' bands (although i do not really like the genre), like Pearl Jam ect.
  21.  I did NOT see that one coming... Thanks. That's ok. After all it doesn't happen every day that you're proposed by a complete stranger on the internet. :) Laila is like a young Meryl Streep infused with the tongue of Gene Simmons. Do not worry Daan, I'll post a picture once i come home from Uni for Christmas, my internet connection is so bad here i can barley do anything. I would say Joe has the best picture, however i have only seen like 4 pages through poor connection. I blame whoever gave me the freedom to drink away my internet money.
  22. I do not know whether any split will actually happen, but if it does then Flanders will get Brussels. Look at the situation, the EU have a french president and Brussels is the capital of the EU. France have always been of the opinion that they are the main influence to the EU. The richest part will make the most of Brussels, and thats not the flemish.
  23. What do you mean you rest your case? Why did you take two points out of context and think you have explained away his points? What game are you playing.
