I only heard about this earlier this month in the lead up to it's release in November but it looks very interesting, and has been creating quite a bit of hype. It tells Dylans story from when he arrived in New York City and Greenwich Village to when he went eletric and futher through his career as he changed himself and his music. It takes a non-linear style and shifts around a lot arguably to keep inline with it's subject. I saw a clip of this on a programme last week and it looked impressive, it's very artistic in some parts and again very vivid in others. What makes this more interesting is that Cate Blanchett plays him from the years when he went eletric, lost a lot of weight and his apperance and music drastically changed. It has an impressive cast as well. Namley Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere and Heath Ledger (all playing various Dylans - and a few lesser known actors playing him) as well as a good supporting cast. It's directed by Todd Haynes who has directed things like the Carpenters story, although this is his first large work (I believe). Theres even some talk of possible success at the oscars.

The nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a useless waste of life, Germany was failing, Japan had already looked as if it was backing down. It is often argued that the deployment of them was more of a warning to Stalin than a warning to Japan, but of course it had the opposite effect. USA's foreign policy wins again. I am more pro-reduction of nuclear weapons in all countries but I do not think it is very realistic. So instead of having tens of arms races across the world by letting everyone have them the super powers should be the only ones to be allowed to develop them. So those other countries do not have to waste their money on making nukes, they can spend it on real issues not hypothetical never-going-to-happen issues.

Lets remember she did have a personality to retain, you know that of an old man. What context would it be appropriate to mention that in anyway? It's not like every gay person has to adhere to a stereotype just to make sure you know they're gay. She didn't announce it on her own anyway, someone asked her a question and she responded to it. Im sure she has more important things to do than to piss a few people off, and God knows she is rich enough to not require a few extra book sales.

I have to agree with Gamerr about both the CIC and the mod applications. In the two months that you neglected the CIC because of this moderator drive the CIC was just about getting somewhere. Obviously are months of work was not any sort of priority, even though it was an admin who asked for our help and you couldn't even dedicate an admin to drop by from time to time or do anything while these application things were being done, which was quite rude - in my opinion at least. Now is to late, we missed the boat when Corruption came back, then left again. Although i still wish goodluck to the remaining CIC members.

If that was the case it would not be done by race but by salary brackets, like, how much money your parents make. White people, hispanic people, asian people ect can be disadvantaged to. To suggest that this is about how much money one person has is incorrect, it is obviously about race.

I agree with Korskin in as much as aliens do not require faith. So really the only rational answer i could give would be that it is almost certain there are aliens out there. Faith is a lot different to mathematical probabilities trying to compare the two shows a lack of understanding of what faith is. To have faith i do not even think you can understand what it is, thats where the suspension of rational thought occurs. When dealing with something completley irrational and absurd, how can you apply rational thought or intellect to that? When in doing so you are misunderstanding what it is. It's paradox and it transcends reason.

Of course, they do afterall call Las Vegas the morality carwash.

Mm, yes you have a problem with pro-discrimination. Ie. Treating black people better. Pisses me off as well. I really can not see how you blame black people for pro-discrimination, unless the people who implement these schemes are black in the first place. Then you have a problem with individuals, not a whole race. I think it is also important to acknowledge that although there are black hate groups, there are white hate groups as well. Just like there are hate groups for every race of people.

This reminds me of a conversation earlier last week. Some dude from liverpool (aptly named "Scouseman") was talking to this German guy, and out of the blue he told him that his grandparents were killed by Nazis after they burn't them alive in a barn. That was possibly the most akward few minutes of my life.

There are many differences between Communsim (or Marxism) and Anarchism though, the main one that he missed out was that there emerges a shared morality between everyone, after the destruction of capitalism and after the dictorial government has no need. This morality essentially means no one would go against it. Although it is (like most communist theory) speculative and untestable. So i personally can never see how communism would ever really proceed past an totalitarian government.
