both of you are wrong, you CAN pick up the arrows, you just don't understand where to stand. You're supposed to range the guards at a place southwest of the door (not SW of the map, but SW if you're facing the door). That place is right beside the hill, in a small carved in place. It doesn't look it's a safe place, but it is somehow. I didn't understand it the first time I got there, but after a while I found out. If you couldn't pick your arrows up, wouldn't the hobgoblin penninsula be better?
