Let me start out by saying what i agree with. I think proper English is important in certain situations. I also agree that using short-hand too often can lead to bad habits. However that is where our similarities end. I think it is imperative that we separate two very different kinds of internet typing. #1 would be what you posted as an example, internet vomit. The other would be proper short-hand. 1) Lolzorzz leik gimme teh rune zxe noob!!#2 - Obviously this is crap and shouldn't be used, there are many reasons for that. "Lolzorzz" abrasive use of the letter z along with extending lol which was created as a short-hand completely negating the purpose. It has misspellings in the simplest words. 'teh' is a common misspelling done on purpose, there is no need to do that at any point in time. Of course the person is begging whilst calling the other speaker a noob. Noob is not meant to be used as an all purpose insult, this is dispicable and reflects upon the Southpark popularized use of 'jew'. 2) hey i love u but i g2g, ttul - Amazing how no capitals or periods were used, two short-hands were and the sentence is perfectly legitimate. This is proper short-hand, it drops all of the unnecessary words and punctuation. This keeps the sentences short making them easier and faster to write. Anyone against #2 (proper short-hand) should ask themselves why this might be. There are two possibilities, firstly you could have unfortunately mixed the two styles of internet writing together an all too common mistake to people new to the internet. Secondly you may be as others have suggested, stuck up. The writer of this article mentions that s/he does not speak English as a first language. I commend you on mastering such a difficult language. However you must realize that a language is much like a living thing, because of the way it came to be it has many inherent flaws. Over time it will change, some people say that the old way is the best (Conservatives) others will say change is good (Liberals). Inevitably the language will change for the best much like politics. On that point i would like say that only literary conservatives such as yourself would view us as slavering apes. Though your essay (3 main points, outlined in a header, reviewed in a conclusion) which amazingly had more than 5 paragraphs was well laid out it failed to impress me. Those with a closed mind in love with Shakespeare because their teacher told them it was literature have no free will of their own. Clinging hopelessly to the past like the man refusing to buy a TV while he has a perfectly good radio.
