Well, slayer is now my highest non-combat stat (and only lags behind my melees, constitution, and ranged). It's not a stretch to say that it's my favorite skill in the game. (Got it on an iron dragons task, I love super antifires, they let me absolutely destroy pretty much all dragons, and I've had several dragon assignments in the last couple days)

School just ended, and tomorrow will be fun with moving out and going back home, but that's the way things work. I'll have a lot of time to play, but I won't be no-lifing it -- just playing more than I do right now.

    itution.

    Also, most recent slayer task:

Also, in case anyone cares, since the last update, I have gotten 79 farming, 89 slayer, 91 and 92 ranged, 94 defence (have screenshots, just don't feel like uploading all of them.)

    That's all for now.

Well, finally reached the milestone of 2000 total level. Spring break starts tomorrow although I have already checked out of school in my mind. No idea what I'll spend spring break doing, as I'll probably be home alone most of the time (I hope, I need a break from school).

And that's all I have to say for now.

Came back to members around the time finals ended, and I finished While Guthix Sleeps yesterday, so predictably I've been killing Tormented Demons. Bit of a steep learning curve, took a while to figure out the right tactics, but I'm enjoying it.

About 10 minutes ago, I'm killing some and someone comes in to my spot. Fine, he can just hop worlds. I expect him to be a jackass and try to steal my kill. If only. Instead, he decides to lure the demons over to pile on and kill me. He seems to barely know what he's doing, but it manages to work. I didn't lose anything since I'd prepared for the possibility of death there before, but still. Good job being a jackass. I have half a mind to go back there and do the same to him, but I'm better than that.

Okay, I decided that I'd start a blog just for the hell of it. Might not get too much done in the all too near future, as I have finals coming up, but I figured that I might as well start up a blog.

    The obligatory about me:

I'm 17 and almost at the end of my first semester at college. I go to the University of Michigan, but you're not getting much more info than that out of me. I've played Runescape since Classic (not sure exactly when, but I know I remember when the RS2 beta was first released), became a member sometime not too long after the release of construction (I think), and have taken many hiatuses in the interim. I love combat in this game, Slayer being one of my favorite skills, but I also enjoy some of the noncombat aspects of the game. One of my favorite hobbies is barrowing, as I've probably made most of my fortune there. I'm worth around 130 million with most of it being in combat items. I'm currently level 125 combat with a total level of 1953 (I think) and my membership is running out soon, but considering that finals are soon, that's all for the best.

I currently have no real goal in RS -- right now, I'm just playing and doing whatever whenever I decide to do it.

    Currently: Slaying (Kuradal)

There are a lot of things that I run into about RuneScape that I don't think people are really getting a good handle on - Bonds are probably the biggest example that I can think of... well, they might have been, until an update that just happened (and caused me to put off what was going to be this post) that I don't think people have really had the chance to sink in.

Now, I didn't really use the companion app - I had it bookmarked and occasionally looked at it when I couldn't play the game, but I had no real reason to go to it. However, Jagex added something huge to it, something that is going to definitely make a change not just in me using the app, but in the way that I play the game. It makes perfect sense for them to add the ability to create GE transactions within the app, since it's likely the easiest thing to do on a tablet or phone screen - really, what's so different between, say, that and a spreadsheet or a simple web form? Sure, the interface as of right now is a little on the clunky side, but it's usable, and there's also the possibility that they could actually do something to improve it later on down the line. Whether or not it's as simple as it can be is beside the point, as this signals a change that... I don't know how to make clear how big of a change this is.

The Grand Exchange now exists everywhere in RuneScape. Everywhere.

Think about this. You don't have to go there, even as simple as it is to teleport there with, say, a Ring of Wealth. It's just not something you need to even do anymore. With the caveat that you need to log out of your other session completely, you can access the GE no matter where you are in the game.

However, that's not even the game changer that I'm thinking this is.

Like many people, I use the GE for flipping, which turns out to be a pretty decent source of profit. Now, with this update, I can do it from a smartphone or tablet, which the app is specifically designed and intended for. I don't need to be in the game, at a computer, in Varrock, sitting there at the GE, to make those transactions that serve as my main money making method. It's that great promise of portability that comes with mobile technology, just reaching this one little corner of the internet.

Even stranger? This is taking a great money making method and not requiring you to actually play the game in order to use it. Flipping, and all other GE merchanting methods, have been moved out of the game itself and can be done even more easily than they already could.

I have no idea what happens next - I'm not going to claim to know what effect this is going to have on the game. I don't know enough to have any idea what this is doing. I might start to work things out as it goes, especially as I get more acquainted with the ins and outs of the app, and some of the effects start to show up more clearly, I just want people to start talking about it, as there seemed to be mostly silence here.

I had a blog here once, apparently. I never posted on it regularly, looking back, but I'm going to try to rectify that.

Something that's changed quite a bit from the way I used to play, and something that doesn't seem that popular anymore, is that I don't take very many screenshots of my accomplishments in the game. When I got 99 woodcutting, I didn't even get a screenshot of it, which might not be the most popular thing here, but I don't really feel like changing that. It takes a bit of the fun out of things, I find.

So, I'm going to try and be back here to post more often. I might say things about the things I accomplish - drops, skills, etc. etc. - but don't expect an abundance of screenshots - my adventurer's log might be the best that I do in that regard.

What I really want to do with this is thinking about the game. I just realized that I've been playing this game more than a decade (I don't know the exact date, is there somewhere I can find that?), and I've seen a ton of things happen in there. I guess that what I really want to do is get into what I think about the game, why I'm still playing, and some sort of analysis of various things as they come to mind. I just want to think a lot about a game that means a lot to me and really dig as deep into it as I possibly can. I also think there is enough of people just saying "Hey, look at the drop I got!" or "Look at my skills!" and I want to do something different and add something new to the discussion.

But first, let's see if I get anything going in the first place. If I make it past this post, there might be a miracle.

Well, I've been back on RuneScape after somewhat of a hiatus. I lost interest in the game over the summer for various reasons, and I've decided that I want to come back to the game for a while. I bought membership about a week ago and I've been doing a little bit of playing since -- not too much, but some. It's odd -- I took a hiatus over the summer and I'm coming back to it now that I'm back in school, but I believe that I can keep a good balance of things, having gotten good at time management.

I know this isn't much to say, but I figured that I'd breathe a little life into this neglected blog.

Well, I have a HP Touchsmart laptop, and a recent discussion on a different forum led me to see just how fast I can skill with this. I have used it before, but never really testing the limits of it. Well, here's what I've managed to figure out so far (all of these are relatively theoretical and it's very difficult to keep this up for a long time):

    72k bolts per hour
    7,200 herbs cleaned per hour
Firemaking is the same speed, but much easier

Unfortunately, it really only speeds up training when you have to click rapidly, similar to mousekeys, but it's much more difficult to right click, so that is a bit of a limitation. Still, I'm really liking these numbers.

(This isn't any type of post about an accomplishment -- instead, this is more of a "blog about your thoughts" post. Also, everything that I say here (and any future blog posts about boss hunting, unless otherwise specified) refers specifically to soloing bosses -- I haven't killed bosses in a team since sometime shortly after the release of coinshare and I much prefer soloing anyway.)

Since I got 89 summoning, I have been living down in the Ancient Guthix Temple, killing Tormented Demons (when I have had the time -- don't have that much, being a college student). They are a perfectly done boss monster -- not hellishly difficult to kill solo (like corp or some of the GWD bosses without really high levels), but unless you know exactly what you're doing, you're going to be toast. However, that makes something else happen -- the biggest danger and most difficult part of killing Tormented Demons: other people.

Tormented Demons are notorious for being really good money -- if you can manage ~25 kills per hour (which isn't overly difficult once you get good at weapon and prayer switching), you can make an average of about 3 million per hour (and I mean average -- it takes a large amount of time and all the money is from one relatively rare drop), and with really high levels, it's even possible to kill more than 50 an hour, for an average of around 6 million or more an hour (method shouldn't be that difficult to figure out).

Of course, since Tormented Demons are practically made of money, or, to be more accurate, you will be if you spend enough time killing them, people are all over them. Even the servers with the least people are often full. I mostly play at late hours (anywhere from 9 to midnight EST on average), but there are still people there. Even if I find a world with no one there, you can bet that within 30 minutes, a white dot will run right towards me. This is where I get to my main point.

I'm not known for liking people much, and this place doesn't do much for my faith in humanity. Etiquette is usually lacking, so if people run over to me, I know that they're going to start killing one of the three demons that I have lured (they're there so they won't pile me, as soon as you kill it it's going to cause a problem) 95% of the time. They're usually also 138s who have no manners, so I can't even fight them for the kill -- I'd just lose.

Those people aren't the big problem. I'm fine with them -- there are usually enough low population worlds to hop to, and that's a matter of simple etiquette. I can see why people crash -- there aren't many worlds that are open. It's also consistent with Jagex's stance, which roughly says "Get bigger or get out". I fight the battles that I think I can win, but there are almost none of those down there, even though I'm level 129. The problem are the ones who can't beat me: the lurers. Back when I had just finished While Guthix Sleeps, I tried to kill some tormented demons using a war tortoise full of sharks -- it worked well enough. My second trip down there, however, someone came in and lured the demons that I had put neatly into place over to me so that I was piled. I tried moving around so that I could fight just one, but he kept pulling that demon over until I was in a situation I couldn't escape except by teleporting and was killed. I got back in time to get all my items back, yes, but it is still unnecessary. Is this what is meant by "Get bigger or get out"? I seriously doubt it. But what can be done about it? I'm just supposed to leave or die because some jackass comes in and decides that I'm in the way, without even attempting a fair fight? I just have to roll over and take it? I can't get bigger and make him get out -- I either have to get out or stoop to his level.

I am a college student and a video gamer. Therefore, I must be sleep deprived. Why that is the case, I am not completely sure, but it is, and so I am here saying some things while sleep deprived. Oh well.

1991/2000 skill total at the moment. Just happened to have enough penguin points to get 74 prayer today, so I decided that it would be a good idea to do so. Now 1 prayer level, 1 summoning level, 1 smithing level, 2 hunter levels, and 5 construction levels from all 75+. Would put me at 2001 skill total, so all 75+ may or may not be my next goal. I would say that I'll go for all 80+ after that, but that would start to get both expensive and time consuming, so for now I'll stick to trying for all 75+. Maybe after I train slayer a bit more. I'm not sure what exactly I'm going for at the moment, I just do various skills in between all the intermittent activities that make a ton of money without even noticing. My cash pile hasn't fallen under 40 million in about a month and I don't know how as I spend money pretty often.

I don't know what else I have to say. Maybe sometime soon I'll have something significant to say.

I haven't posted here since December? Well, I think that I need to fix that.

For the first of two updates that no one but me will care about: my break is long since over and I'm back in school, with all the hassles and stresses that come with it. Mondays come from hell (classes from 9-5 with a total of 90 minutes of break, which isn't much considering the walk between some buildings on campus), other days aren't as bad (3 days a week I end at 1 or 2, and the other day I end at 4), so it's not horrendous, but 17 credits isn't the easiest thing. I'm actually typing this while sitting in a lecture (but don't tell them that).

As for RuneScape, I haven't been doing all that much. I don't have huge amounts of time to play most days, so my playing is often limited to herb runs, dailies like battlestaves, broad bolts, Bork, getting my favour up, some merchanting, and fishing for cavefish with whatever time I have left. That might sound like a lot, but herb runs and dailies take up around an hour and I'm often multitasking while I do. Still, it's amazing. I've noticed that I'm making a ton of money even with only these small investments of time -- 1 million a day would be a good guess, quite possibly more.

Enough of my rambling -- I'll stop wasting your time now. Maybe I'll have something more interesting to say here in the near future.
  13. Mischlings
Had my first final today -- philosophy, pretty easy. But that's school, not this.

My membership runs out tomorrow -- perfect timing to give me more time to study (not that I'll use it all, I'm like that). While I'm f2p, while I have time, I'll probably spend my RS time on Great Orb Project -- should help once I get members back, good amount of money can be made off the right tabs. But that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
