  1. What about slightly limiting the number or value of 'free' trades per week? So new players can only receive a gift of say 1mill per week, either in cash or trade value difference?

Its up for discussion how you would raise these limts, either on total xp, QP etc, and the values allowed.

Realistically, how often do 90% of players give friends large value unbalanced trades? Would you be prepared to go back to restrictive player to player trade (GE can still be free?) in order to make it difficult for farmer bots to trade out there stock?

I enjoyed the game a lot more when we were in the period of restrictive trade, and fewer bots.

If we agree that its very difficult to detect bots, then we have to either take away the reason to bot (so no exp or GP) or make it as difficult as possible for any transfers to be done.

  2. The biggest difference we could make to the community is to force the limit of one account logged in per pc, which is circumvented by botting scripts.

If this could be extended to block all accounts playing from a VPS (Virtual Private Server?) then we would see a huge reduction in casual to medium level gold farming accounts, where even one individual sitting at home can have 6 bots or more running simultaneously per pc.

I dont mind so much one account botting for their own exp/cash, its the huge numbers of slave accounts playing to fund one main account thats a problem.

  3. also interested in this as I have never done the caves apart from once for diary, and have now accepted it as slayer task.

I am currently burning through my bank to go from 84 prayer to 95, and plan to melee, but have yet to find an up to date guide, as there seems many changes to mechanics and animiations etc of jad.

Anyone have an up to date melee guide?

  4. A surgebox is held in the shield hand (so you can't use a 2h with it). It holds 125 casts of wind surge. If you're wielding an elemental staff, you can cast the corresponding elemental spell. You can bind it and then fill it, but you most likely can't fill it during a later floor.

At 92 magic, a seeping elm branch can bought from the smuggler for very cheap and can be made into a basic earth staff. Corpsethorn branches and higher can be made into empowered earth staffs. When you get 95, use blood spindle and entgallow/gravecreeper for fire staffs, respectively.

Ok so i can destroy my law bind and bind the CSB tho? so i can have hood, prom2h and csb bound? does csb go in ammo slot when bound or inventory? Can/how do i swap from prom2h to surgebox and back again?

On staffs, they all seem equally poor magic offence, is this correct?

  5. I have a question about ammo binds and CSB usage. I currently have 125 law runes bound.

I think i have seen a surge box, or certainly something like one, but not knowing exactly what to do with it i just left it behind - this looks to have been a mistake - although certainly no one else in the (non DGS) group wanted it.

So, I kind of understand that a surge box basically holds runes/spells - but can someone confirm how it works/wielded and how its charged etc?

from pics it looks likes its held in a hand position but bound in ammo slot? Can i use with prom 2h(b)? what if i make a temporary staff etc? does prom 2h need unwielded to use?

If i find one, do i need to fill it before i bind it, or can i add runes to it later (which will remain bound?) What spells/runes should i add at my levels?

    cheers

Edit: also, on a related note, at my levels, what is the best magic weapon (presume staff?) that i can make/gather/buy for bosses at my level and how do i do it?

  6. +1 to Cheese, Obtaurian, and Xpx. Those are all right. I was keying, I'm not supposed to have food. I might have picked up 10 salves total that floor.

Also, I don't really care about the xp from Abandoned. I like seeing fast floor times, and AFAIK, that's the fastest posted dungeon on Tip.It yet.

Does anyone know the fastest 5:5 large floor time?

Some legendary Keyers of Olde did 15-20 minute floors consistently, or so I hear. They all got 200m exp and stopped dging, though.

if i were a lead dgs'r, i'd claim the" 'no pic no proof' and/or 'its since been nerfed' therefore we are the best" - internet cred is where its at, apparently

  7. I've never bothered to check, but now I might as it'd be quicker if I knew which colour corresponded to who, without having to mouseover.

mouseover? not tried that before - is it over the triangle icons for each player?

i't be better if the character chat was colour coded....

its mainly for the 'im over here' responses i get when i ask where such and such is

  8. re: effigies - i wonder how many others (not just top players) have changed there long term plans to encompass them - ie I will look to train one each of the 'paired' skills to 97 before finishing other skills. How far short of 200Mill should the top lads / lassies stop?

  9. Spending about 67million on herblore (was 40 million when i bought it before the weekend was announced)

    RC tiaras from talismans

10mill or so on string jewellery

    thats 8 hours worth.

After that, summoning, then burn through stuff in my bank like mage logs, ores, unfinished broad bolts etc.

Then take a week off to relax as i find the grind against the clock aspect of these weekends tiresome, but dont want to miss out.

    G

  10. should all be 10% tbh, and announced 2-3 days in advance, not 3 weeks.

If the weekend were to be announced that late then the market would be even worse.

I would be much happier if the XP weekend was turned into a D&D of sorts where the xp could be activated any 3 days over the course of say.. 6 months? This would at least stagger the event so you wouldn't have mass buyouts. It would also "stimulate" the economy over a much longer period of time rather than rising everything up 2 weeks and then crashing everything.

this would be great and better for the casual player

  11. i found kyatt never worked properly and caused more harm then good - i feel your pain becuase i had over 35k ranged exp from him alone over several nights....

i started with tort, 1:3 super restores to brews and thats it - no kyatt, no bgs. only rune c/bow and ruby and diamond bolts both (e). i found that every time i tried to use thekyatt, even while out from behind a pillar, he would shout coward and restore himself

i stood behind a pillar and ranged him, then when he went beserk, tanked him toe to toe with no familiar. This worked best eventually.

are you failing the same way each time?

  12. When did they state that prayer flashing was not in the spirit of the game?

I remember in one of the Q&A's someone high up (great references i know) saying that (paraphasing) 'prayer flashing makes the game more skilful and i'm all for that'

  13. I think the 927k slayer xp was just due to him being very lucky with effigies- in all likelyhood(assuming he didn't get the same task very close to the next one) he got 3 effigies from 2 seperate tasks in a day, which to be honest, is almost impossible, in all likelyhood, there will be days he will not get any effigies and it still averages around 1 effigie per 100-150k slayer xp. I have no idea how i could have gone 800k slayer xp without one when zarfot is getting 8 in a day.

He can be very lucky - i have had two effergies on an aberant slayer task, 8 monsters apart - to be fair its the only effergies i've had, but still.

  14. Its daft to say stuff you cant make money woodcutting or fishing, when you plainly do.

Now not withstanding effieciency ratings etc - some people would rather spend minimal attention and clicking doing fishing/wc and getting SOME exp and SOME money, then say chopping ivy for and hour then collecting flax for an hour.

Gathering skills are just not good money makers per hour (maybe mining runite), whereas gathering materials (flax, blue scales, mort myre fungus etc) give no exp.

As usual, it may be better to do something you enjoy (ish) rather than the most efficient, but to answer your question rocktails at 99 (say 250k/H) beat yews/eucs/magic logs at 99 (only about 100k/h i think?)

  15. Hey,

I'm not the one who writes those descriptions so apologies if it was unclear - we only just managed to sneak this in in time for today's update but yes, it is the thing we discussed earlier in this thread. If you pay a farmer to chop a tree down for you, you have that same %age chance that you get the seed back.

    Enjoy!

    Quick find code: 15-16-722-60984750

    :)

  16. I did try, but the RSOF gives me the willies and I feel my IQ points slipping away as i read it.

So are we saying KB is NOT correct? i certainly got seeds from paying farmers before, but not lately - lots of herbs/plants tho.

Sorry to OP for draging this off topic

  17. From knowledge base:

When harvesting a non-tree farming patch, there is a 10% chance that you will regain a number of seeds equal to the number you originally planted

When digging up a fruit tree or normal tree patch, there is a 5% chance that you will regain the seed you originally planted

You gain the chance of regaining seeds once you have FINISHED harvesting a patch; you do not get a 10% chance for every ranarr herb you harvest from a patch, for example.

NOTE - If you harvest dead herbs, the herb seed you have a chance of receiving will be random. Sometimes, you may receive a torstol seed after harvesting a guam, for example. This only applies to dead herbs: live herbs will offer you a seed that is identical to the ones you originally planted in the patch.

If you pay a farmer to dig up a tree for you, you forfeit the chance of regaining your seed. Paying farmers to look after your plants will have no effect on your chances of receiving seeds - as long as you cut down or harvest the plant yourself, you will receive the chance of regaining the seeds. Spirit trees and kalquat trees do not give replacement seeds.

important bits in bold - so as mentioned you need to chop down and dig up the tree stump, for a 5% chance (only) to get seed back.

So the choice is speed over time as usual - if you get them back 5% of the time thats 5% of 269k = 13450 per tree roughly. How do i turn that into a gp/hour?

if it takes 1 min to chop down a tree thats 60 trees and hour so 807k / H?
