The number of players that have 99 slayer being 3 times the number of players that have 99 smithing for the same time period *does not* prove anything about the speed at which you can train either of those mentioned skills. It only gives a hint or two, like slayer is liked by more, slayer gives better rewards, slayer is more profitable, etc... None of those are facts, but those premises are the ones you can support with what you said, not the speed... I don't think this question has any room for argument, if we are to talk purely about the speed at which a skill can be trained.
