Great. Money isn't really an object in regards to charging the bow :) Thanks everyone I think all my concerns have been adressed, should have a fire cape soon hopefully :D

ranged MUST be 70 or higher, but it is more than doable with just 70 ranged. You will otherwise be stuck to MSB with rune arrows. The idea bow for the caves is the Crystal Bow. Otherwise higher prayer could be useful, 60 would be nice. Otherwise its enough This is exactly what I wanted to hear thanks. Crystal Bow is better to use than Karils crossbow??

Ok well my stats are as follows: Attack - 75 Strength - 75 Defense - 76 Ranged - 65 (though will be 70(+?) soon) HP - 75 Prayer - 52 Magic - 64, dont think its relevant but posted anyway. I'd really like my HP higher for the final fight but if it's doable at 75 then I may as well not waste time.

No, i'd start with lost city. In the whole time I've been doing slayer i've not been given steel dragons from lost city once. Sure sometimes you'll get iron and bronze, but bronze are easy and iron are manageable but expensive to fight. The risk of getting a few hard tasks you have to skip is well outweighed by the better monsters + higher amounts. Although, until your slayer level raises there will be monsters you can't fight yet and so the likelihood of getting harder tasks would increase i presume.

Ok I am sure this has come up more than numerous times however the search appears to be defunct and searching either brings me with about 1000 unrelated results or absolutly nothing, so I'm posting :) Basically if anyone could give me a run down of the lowest levels that is is possible to beat the fight pits at, in particular ranged, I would be greateful. I'm currently smithing a mass of cballs to get my ranged up, just wondering how far I should go? I would aim to do it in full guthans + karils regardless of when I do it with all the recommended inventory items. Thanks in advance as always.

Im wondering what would be better to wear, equipment that gives bonus to strength but with a not so great defence, or better defence with no bonus to strength. I see many people wearing a climbing boots + obby shield combo but my question is, is it worth it? Or, will I be able to get through more monsters because of the added strength bonus regardless of the fact my defence bonus is lower? Now i'm guessing this is dependant on a few things and change from player to player and situation to situation so I'll give a rundown of my gear and stats. Level 87 combat with 71 attack and defence, 70 strength, 71 hits and 51 prayer. My gear is full torags with d sq and rune boots and legends cape + whip. So basically i'd be siwtching the boots and shield for strength bonus. Would it be worth it? The lower defence would mean I get hit harder but I'd be hitting harder too, but enough to compensate? I'll be thankful for any advice :)

I have to say i tried the druids and found them a bit awful. The lack of cost is about the only plus. The speed of which you acquire herbs and the travelling back and forth to bank is too much for me. The drop rate of ranarrs seemed poor and that was with a wealth ring. MUCH quicker to find 2nd ingredients that have spawns with either big numbers (red spider eggs) or fast spawn rate (snape grass) or even both. And then from there buy your vials/herbs and always at least break even.

Thanks for all the comments and added tips. Gangea, no one said you have to train something when you don't want to? I think you've misunderstood the purpose of this thread.
-
Exactly! That's how I felt doing it, and from 34 I jumped 4 levels :) Thanks for the insight into what you train on cool.
-
Interesting. Yeah, I had a feeling there would be better ways to train at higher levels. You even mentioned a few new updates I didn't even think about. When I first started herblore I wasn't too impressed with it, seemed a bit fiddly and repetitive but now, looking at it properly, its definately starting to grow on me. Is there any other skill where you could just buy all your ingredients/needed items to level up with and break even at the end of the day? Maybe even make a profit...

I've noticed a number of updates recently seemed to have aided the leveling process of herblore, at least for me, and by a small coincidence I recently needed to get my herblore from 28 to 45 for legends. #1. Eadgars Ruse for 11k exp is now made much much easier with the bank at the warriors guild, granted you would need the combat level to enter. #2. Filling vials with water is now much easier and quicker. #3. Finally, Collecting snape grass for prayer pots from the hobgoblin peninsula is easier to access with a POH in Rimmington. Tele to house, collect, tele to camelot, Repeat. #1 is a bit negligible as 11k exp at higher levels won't do much but what do people reckon about the last 2? Think it will alter the speed of herblore leveling? Think jagex will nerf the speed that water fills? (it seems unusually fast) Or is it all planned by them to actually give a maybe needed boost to the ease of herblore leveling? I'm not even sure what the high level herblorist train with, so #3 might not even matter. I'm merely curious as to what impact (if any) people think this will have to the skill. Stay safe and keep it acomb xx

Yeah, i saw him at the wildy bandit camp a few weeks ago. He said something about an undercover mission and then teleported. Looks like he can appear anywhere, a-la bob the cat. -
Ah! This makes perfect sense, was wearing my melee kit which is a mix of rune and dragon. Great tip, I'll have to train my range up for d'hide armour, Thanks. Yeah I was going to mention lessers too, in that they seem rather underpowered for a L82, although I won't notice once my level supasses theirs.

Alright, I'm now 81 combat myself and so haven't been battling the high level'd monsters for too long, but in the short time I have i've noticed a few things about the levels which don't really seem to be consistent. For example, I've just been fighting hellhounds which are L122, and found them much easier to fight than say Bloodvelds which are L76. I do understand that, just like player combat levels, the level can be made up of varying stats, so that, like in the case of the bloodvelds, an NPC could have a very high attack in exchange for other lower levels. This seems all well and good but the fact remains that the whole point in combat levels in the first place is to surely give a good idea of how hard the enemy will be to fight right? But the truth is I can take on many more hellhounds than bloods (before restocking food) and this to me seems a bit strange. I don't know, maybe slayer NPCS are generally just harder to fight than regular monsters, but i even found the L108 elves to be harder than hellhounds. Or maybe hellhounds are just an exception to the game and I'm rambling about nothing.... Out of interest does anyone know how NPC combat levels are assigned by Jagex? Are the stats of the NPC independant of the combat level (and therefore the combat level is manually and individually set by jagex) or do the stats directly influence it's resulting combat level?

Yeah, poetic justice would be for the guy who picked it all up to die also :) heh.. but then someone else would just get the stuff... truly nasty bug -
Is this the same for all the pickaxes and wc axes from bronze to rune? In that the only difference is combat and not skill?
