Attention Artists: Need of your assistance!

Featured Replies

Calling all artists! I'm in need of some art! I operate my own graphic design company with my wife and we had a brilliant idea.

I am actually good friends with a few of the Jagex designers/programmers and I passed along an idea that they are trying to process to the top of the company. We are in the process of making The First Official Runescape Guide in hardcover format. That is, it will be official if the right people think it is worthy enough to be put into production. I was actually given the OK to make a prototype and present it to them. NOTE: This is not to be confused with the 'Handbook' that has come out. This is a book with guides of each skill and how to train them.

See, I have the skills/knowledge for computer art and my wife has the area of photography/drawing/painting; however, she does not have much of an imagination for fantasy art. To get to the point of this, we are interested in some nice Runescape-related art(realistic) to copy into this prototype. You must be okay with a possibility of my wife rendering a new version of your art(colors only, mostly) to put into the book. However, in submitting your art we would recognize you as the originator. Basically, your name will go beside the art & in the credits. You'll be recognized for your skill and devotion to get this book going.

Now there is a huge chance that they will decline this project and we'll have to change back all the official Runescape art(in-game screenshots, logos, ect) to what we will create. By law, to get around the copyright laws, you need to change the original art by 30-40%. In doing so, we'll legally be able to sell this ourselves as an Unofficial Runescape Guide. This is what we are going to do, if they decline. We would really appreciate being able to keep your art inside the book and keeping you credited. If you allow us to do so, we'd be willing to sell a copy of this to you at a discounted price, obviously. If you decide to change your mind, we will agree to taking it out of the book.

Nope, no limit to what we'll consider. Though it is best to chose from actual pencil drawings, we might even consider some nice pixel graphics :D

ok now the only thing: what are we supposed to make?

i mean do we have to think of something ourself and just send it?

Let me give you guys a better grasp of what I'm looking for:

I'll need a nice cover/back to the book. I'm not too interested in using the current logo/pictures that Jagex owns, but something along those lines.

For each chapter in the book, each skill, I want a introduction page with the title, the skill's logo, and then a picture including several items related to that skill.

(Example: If we are doing the Magic section, I'd have a nice font 'MAGIC' then the official Runescape Magic Logo under it[the blue wizard hat] & then a picture right under it. In my head I see an Ancient Staff leaning on a chair where a magic hat sits and an amulet is strung over the arm of the chair. Make sense?)

And then I'm thinking of adding in extra items into the chapters like weapons, books, warriors, monsters, ect .. small little pictures to just put by a paragraph to make it seem bolder, if you will.

EDIT: To answer your question, I'm looking for imagination. My wife can easily look at a picture and draw it, that isn't the issue. She doesn't have a big imagination for fantasy things. So I'm looking for someone to think of something to draw and submit it. If you think you have an excellent idea that'll look wonderful on the 'Prayer' introduction page, draw and send it on it :) I'll still be here if you need help/ideas on it, though.

ok, but can u please add a list of all the things we could design in the first post? So its easier for all to know what the options are  If there is a woodcutting or firemaking part i would like to try out those :P

I will fill in the form in my first post :-$
