March 17, 200719 yr OK, i've recently decided to get back into GIMP, but unfortunetly for me, i've forgotten a ton. First of all, how do I transparent-ise an image? One of the most basic things to learn, but I just can't remember...something to do with colour to alpha, but meh, I can't remember. Second of all, how do I use downloaded brushes? What file do I put them into? I think I should be able to get on with those two bits of information.... Thanks in advance, PJ
March 18, 200719 yr Transparency: Click the tool you wanna use, right click on picture, go to layer, highlight transparency and click "Add Alpha Channel". Downloading Brushes: Go to Deviantart.com, search for "Gimp Brushes", click the brush and on the right side will be download, get it, and click start, go to my computer, double click C: (Local Disk), then double click "Program Files", then GIMP 2.0, then share, Then gimp again, then 2.0, then you will see brushes. Open the downloaded brushes click and drag them into that file and it should work. Happy GIMPing its what i use . If you need any tutorials (Tuts) you can visit gimptalk.com there awesome good luck \
March 18, 200719 yr Author cheers ghost, they both work perfectly. :D Few more questions however. Is it possible to change the colour of a brush? And how can I invert the colours in my piece of work. I can get so far, but then the thing requires me to invert the colours (black and white), but when i go to 'select' and choose 'invert', nothing happens! Any ideas?

March 18, 200719 yr Thanks for the cheers, however i can only help you with one of the two problems :? . To change the color of the brush that you are currently using you need to, find the main GIMP window (The one that opens when you open it), and find the two colored boxes one should be black the second one should be white, then double click the black one and there you have it the color options! The second color box is for your secondary color and it works with fades and stuff like that. Sorry i never invert my pictures, but the problem might be this: Try to click the "select" tab then "select all" then click "layers" go to colors and invert it. that should work. Hope this helps.
March 18, 200719 yr Author Nope, didn't work... This is where i'm at. I'm trying to create the lightening effect that i've seen in a video on youtube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=e6doh3-ot64) But I just cannot get my colours to invert :wall: Anymore ideas anyone?
March 18, 200719 yr Author Good news, i found out how to do it :D And i'm very pleased with the results.. Opinions? One more question should sort me out. Is there a way to resize an image without losing any of the quality? I don't mean cropping, i mean actually shrinking. Is it possible?
March 18, 200719 yr nice lightning effects  Man, ummmmm.... the only way i know how to is either host it on photobucket and view the picture and save it, thats the only thing i can think of. maybe it will work. :-k
