If you are a pure mage in F2P, what do you want defence for?

 

 

 

In P2P, 20 would be good for a "mystic pure", but there are no mage items in F2P that need defence.

 

 

 

I wouldn't waste spell hit xp by casting in defence mode, better to melee any defence you do want.
