ROBOSRUS
How do I set it so the program McAfee (for viruses & stuff) doesn't automatically start when windows starts and I log in? It's annoying waiting for it to load so I can continue.
Brandon_7
Click on your start menu, and go to "Run". Type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks of course). Click on the tab labeled "Startup". It will display all of the programs that run when your computer starts up. Uncheck the box next to McAfee and restart your computer. Problem solved. :)
ROBOSRUS
Thanks, but I don't know which one it is since McAfee isn't there. >.
Brandon_7
Look for something similar to McAfee. I don't have it on my computer, so I don't know what it looks like. :| Or, as an alternative, you could use a program that will show you what programs are running at startup. CCleaner is one, you can download it here. After you get it, install it, and run it. Go to Tools --> Startup, and it'll show you a list of all the programs that run when your computer starts up. Find McAfee and delete it. (FYI: You can remove other things that you don't want to run on startup, however, don't remove things if you don't know what they are.)
ooberman
If I remember correctly all mcafee services have "mc" before them. If your not using it you may aswell just uninstall it. Make sure you have some sort of anti-virus protection though, you wont get far without getting infected. AVG is a good free anti-virus which does not hog your computer resources. Also zone alarm is a good free firewall. oober
