How do people break even getting 99 herblore? o.O

Buying seeds and farming them (reduce costs of herb) and possibly collecting their own 2nds.

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

The only way you could possibly break even getting 99 herblore would be allowing yourself to spend months upon months training it. You'd either have to do the following methods that Harrington and Freesia mentioned or sit around waiting for excellent sale opportunities. If you make prayer and/or super restore potions, you typically lose very little gp (or possible to break even if you spend a couple extra days/weeks waiting for cheap prices on herbs). The problem with that is that there's a huge demand for ranarrs and snapdragons (since everybody wants this good "lose as little gp as possible" opportunity), therefore creating a huge competition for them.

It probably takes the average person 1-3 months to get 99 herblore, and that's with losing probably anywhere from 30m to 100m. Now just imagine how long it'd take you if you broke even? Probably 3-6 months would be my guess.

Manage thy Kingdom is a good way to get herbs as well. They cost just over 800 each when it comes out. So in the end you can make some money on them if you get the seconds yourself. This and farming at the same time is great herblore xp.

I know that some players will given their unidentified herbs to higher level players to make the pots and give back free

That way the lower level players get high level pots but the pot maker gets the all important exp

The above method doesnt make money but I have two people who regularly given me their un id herbs and I make pots for them - almost triples my exp rate as three people are working on it

Buying ranarrs for 7 and selling pots for 8 makes minimal money but works

Only other suggestion is that whenever you want to train combat, train on chaos druids and only keep ranarrs and above - easy combat xp and can gather herbs pretty quickly

Wherever you go, there you are
