As I'm finishing stringing about 7k willow longs to get to 70 fletching, I am thinking of another plan that would get several skills up (I like plans like that). Two of my worst skills are ranging and smithing (46 and 49). I want to get both up, and i was thinking of doing this: I would mine enough iron for about 70 smithing (which is about 80k, giving an allowance for unrefined ores) and use those bars to make iron knives for ranging. I have two questions: 1. Where is the closest iron mine to a bank? All the ones i can think of (S Falador, Varrock) are a decent walk, although the Dwarven Mines aren't too bad. 2. Are knives good to train with? I was thinking of selling what i had left when I am done (I'm shooting for about 70 range) to get some money. Tell me what you think!

i would say either the port khazard/yanille mine

 

 

 

or if u have lv 60 mining ( i didnt chekc your sig) to us ethe drawven mines and shortcut through the mining guild to bank.

Well if you're p2p buy/make yourself some rings of forging so you don't have to do all the extra mining if you don't want.

 

 

 

Try the Ardougne mine just east of the town and souht of the legend's guild. It has 6 rocks I believe and you can sit at 4 of them, and still easily mine without problems. I did that for a bit and it worked well.

 

 

 

Knives are a good way to train, but take forever to smith, so be ready to be smithing longer than you will be ranging..

 

 

 

Have fun too. Make sure you do other side stuff so you don't get burnt out on one thing..

You will not be very successful hitting monsters with iron knives at your level. Make arrows instead, and you will get fletching exp as well.
