The shading on the armour is way too extreme, I'm suspecting you of slapping a gradient across him.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shadows dont work like that. His arm for example is at its simplest a cylinder, one side should be light and the other should be darker, not having one arm almost entirely light and the other almost entirely dark.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Make him look 'tougher' by getting rid of the slouching shoulders, a warrior wants big, broad and square shoulders at about slightly less than 90* to the body. (think of a guy in a business suit with shoulder pads, that sort of square shoulders)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, don't hide the text in a small patch at the bottom of the sig, make it big bold and stick it where it can be seen, for example in one of the two big patches of green, or even the sky. It also needs more contrast to be seen, make it two colours if its going on a dark background, light on the edges and dark inside.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Borders are always good to put an emphasis on the picture or draw attention to it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Add more items to the background and dont leave such large, open spaces in it, the tree is good and maybe more of them could help fill in the space. Or make the character bigger so it fills more of the screen.
