my question is about the meduim task "exchange gems for a machete"

 

for that can i just buy a gem machete or do i have to get a gout tuber 3 gems and trading sticks?

You have to get gout tuber, gems and sticks. Gout tuber may be a problem, unless you buy it from another player for 150-250K. It was a problem for me - I spent a few days trying to get one from the minigame.

You could try leaving the Gout Tuber till the last thing you do for the medium tasks.

 

 

 

All the players I know spent a long time trying to get one were doing it as one of their first 'chores' those that got it fast seemed to be the people who left it till later.

 

 

 

They also seem to turn up a lot more often once you have completed the task.
