Cash With Shades Of Mort'ton? (100 Views And No Answer...)

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have a question.

A friend of mine, and myself, were planning to get 80 firemaking and heading down to the minigame for some fun and possibly some profit.

Now, if I burned yews, it would cost me 2.3 ish. This would be what I would burn regardless, because all the others just waste my time and I really cant get on as often as id like so this would have to be it.

Now for the question. I have heard many things about TONS of cash coming from burning the highest level shades but I really dont know where this idea stems from?

The addy/rune drops, the runes, the clues, the fine cloth? What is the source of the profit and is it really worth it? Id love to hear from someone with personal experience with THE HIGHEST LEVEL SHADES!

Thanks =)

I used to make a living from highest shades a while back (like 1.5 years ago...). I was 60-65 combat and raised Firemaking to 80 specifically for Shades. It was my only skill over 70 at the time :-)

Anyway I made my first million doing it with main profit coming from:

-- making and selling full splitbarks 300K ea.

-- getting and selling rune scimitars 25-30K ea

I was also selling addi armors/weapons and hammers I was getting into the shop and banking/selling power amulets.

Of course splitbarks are much cheaper now (probably around 200-250K) so nowadays it wouldn't be that profitable.

I recall making about 70-100K in an hour on average. Not that great if you think about it. But I was also getting good combat, firemaking, crafting and prayer exp. It got me over 43 Prayer among other things, so no regrets.

And it was better than fishing lobsters for sure.

Hope it helped :-)

Razmire's store buys items for the high alch price (if he doesn't have it in stock).

So if you get an addy 2h from a chest and you sell it to Raz, you get 3840 coins, without having to spend the money on a nat.

You get a mix of mith, addy and rune items from the chests, along with other loot (level 3 clues from some).

Fine cloth was also a good item back in the day, but I think the demand for it has dropped.

PvP is not for me

Personally, I wouldn't put 2.3m into getting 80 fm for that. It's not a very good money-making method, and there are better things you could spend your money on.
