(I am putting in 2.5m for my kingdom) Would it be better to have 10 in flax and 5 in coal, or 10 in wood and 5 in coal?

you'll get tree seeds frm the maples, which are worth more than flax

yess.. everything in the kingdom gives you a nice profit, other than herbs, fishing and farming. just keep your ratings at 100%
