Another nooby question?

When you search for someone, why is ther a "look up user" and "find a username" button? And when you use "find a username," it just gives you a thing to enter when you hit "look up user." Why not just use "look up user?"

NOTE: When I type in my own name or anyone elses and hit "look up user," the first button, it doesn't work. I have to do "find a username" first and then click search to have it enter it into the text field. Then it works. Help? Thanks.

Another note: I'm confused! :( :P

The "Find a username" feature is there so you can search for partial matches. For example, if you didn't remember someone's full username and wanted to find their profile, you could figure out what their username is by using the "Find a username" feature. Lets say their screen name was DarkBoy531, and you didn't remember the numbers at the end. You could use the "Find a username" feature and search for DarkBoy*. The * would act as a wildcard and would search for any and all usernames that start with DarkBoy. To test this out, try searching for something like trip* and see the results that come up ;)

Whereas the "Look up user" feature is useful because you're able to search for someone's profile if you already know their full username.

As for your second query, that is very odd :-k It should work fine using both methods. Are you copying the username, pasting it into the search field and manually pressing "Look up User?" If not, then what are you doing instead? If so, what message appears after you press "Look up User?"
