America was free,

 

 

 

We fought for our rights

 

 

 

and pursued liberty,

 

 

 

Broke free from oppression

 

 

 

So we could live a dream,

 

 

 

Everyone could live together

 

 

 

In peace and harmony,

 

 

 

At least that's what you're told

 

 

 

From the time of elementary,

 

 

 

But if you disagree,

 

 

 

To the penetentiary

 

 

 

Without the due process,

 

 

 

It's supposed to be a right,

 

 

 

But things have all changed

 

 

 

In this modern day and age,

 

 

 

We live in a fear

 

 

 

That the government has made,

 

 

 

Terrorists are everywhere,

 

 

 

That's what they say to start a scare,

 

 

 

Got you spyin' on your neighbors,

 

 

 

Could be a bomb there,

 

 

 

Nine Eleven was a scape goat,

 

 

 

An excuse to go to war,

 

 

 

Kids dyin' over oil,

 

 

 

That's all it's been for,

 

 

 

But we full of terror,

 

 

 

Think we all gonna die,

 

 

 

We say it's all okay,

 

 

 

Because we believin' they lies,

 

 

 

We let em take away our rights,

 

 

 

They say it keeps us safe,

 

 

 

You stand and applaud

 

 

 

When they slap you in the face,

 

 

 

Someone's gotta take action

 

 

 

Cuz the way it's looking now,

 

 

 

America is going down,

 

 

 

The rights of the many

 

 

 

Delegated by a few

 

 

 

Upper class white males

 

 

 

With an agenda or two,

 

 

 

Now what you gonna do,

 

 

 

Soon it'll be a felony

 

 

 

To speak ill of his name,

 

 

 

We gotta do something,

 

 

 

Yo, we gotta make a change,

 

 

 

They got the Bill of Rights lookin' kinda strange,

 

 

 

Another secret meeting and it gets more deranged,

 

 

 

America is ours and we need to take it back,

 

 

 

So just say no to the PATRIOT Act

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Think to back in the days when America was free,

 

 

 

We used to have pride,

 

 

 

We used to have privacy,

 

 

 

The PATRIOT Act repealed all that,

 

 

 

That's a fact,

 

 

 

Check out the stats,

 

 

 

We deport people now like we did way back

 

 

 

with the Alien and Sedition Acts ,

 

 

 

Think about it,

 

 

 

One, the Naturalization Act,

 

 

 

You can't be a citizen 'til you've lived here for fourteen years,

 

 

 

It used to be five,

 

 

 

Keep in mind that the majority of the politicians favoring this act

 

 

 

still spoke with an accent,

 

 

 

Guess they couldn't backtrack

 

 

 

to where they came from,

 

 

 

Their British roots a few years done ,

 

 

 

They just got dumb,

 

 

 

Two, the Alien Act,

 

 

 

Check the facts

 

 

 

cuz this act was supported by conjecture and false allegations,

 

 

 

Judging who is detrimental is merely an opinion,

 

 

 

Think back just a few years to the Salem witch hunt,

 

 

 

Third is the Alien Enemies Act,

 

 

 

What can be said about this act other than it was merely an excuse to get rid of foreigners,

 

 

 

Justified through war,

 

 

 

It was used as a crutch to arrest and deport

 

 

 

those considered enemies

 

 

 

You better be a friend or leave,

 

 

 

You're with us or against us,

 

 

 

If you're not on our side,

 

 

 

You better reconsider,

 

 

 

Now bow down to our god,

 

 

 

He's the only way in life

 

 

 

Last but not least is the Sedition Act,

 

 

 

The last act to pass in the crackdown on legal immigration,

 

 

 

A principle our nation was founded on just twenty years prior,

 

 

 

Another infringement on free speach,

 

 

 

Making it legal to arrest those who spoke their minds,

 

 

 

How does this relate to today,

 

 

 

It's the same damn thing,

 

 

 

Just worded different ways,

 

 

 

It's come full circle through the PATRIOT Act,

 

 

 

Through questionable practices,

 

 

 

Just one more way hidden agendas are envisioned,

 

 

 

One more method to promote Christian fundamentalism,

 

 

 

Yo, we ain't down with all that,

 

 

 

Let's do all we can to stand up and fight back,

 

 

 

And let's show all the people

 

 

 

that true patriots hate the PATRIOT Act
