1. What format you trying to use? May be that you aren't using a correct format.

 

 

 

2. Yes, you can add links to any image. Many sites explain how to do it.

 

 

 

3. I'm not sure about alternatives. Uzzisoft should be all you need; as long as you use it correctly it'll work well.

You can't use links , it has to be the image file.

You get a link like http://www.uzzisoft.com/randomsigscript/image.jpeg so you should be able to hyperlink from it. In fact I'm sure I've done it before.
