has anyone ever read the series His Dark materials? the books in the series are The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber spyglass

Well, it was a lame ending

i am going to attemp to re-write the story

This is the story of the subtle knife. The story of Mark Johanson. The story of the war of heaven.

It happened once, hundreds of years ago, that a girl by the name of Lyra Silvertounge obtained an instrument known as the Golden Compass. It also happened that Will Parry aquired a knife, called the Subtle Knife. Lyra and Will came from totally different worlds. Not just planets, but worlds. A different universe. How is that possible, you may ask. Well, there are holes in the air, holes and rifts that cut through the worlds themselves. There are a few means of making these rifts, but all involve murder, hate, and anger. But there was one way, the Subtle Knife, that did not. It cut into worlds, like a knife through butter. But that was only one thing could do. The other side of the blade could cut through anything. Anything existing could be cut by this knife. Will Parry used it to travel through the worlds.

Also, at this time, it was unvieled that God was no god. millins of years age angels were created. The first angel told the rest that he was their creator. A rebel group of angels found out the truth, and where flung down from Almighty, the travelling mountain that was god's domain. But god grew old, and appointed Regent as next in command. Regent had god sealed away in a crystal box, to preserve god's life. But the rebel angels gathered a massive army of humans and many other creatures from all the worlds, and waged war on heaven. They succeded in destroying god along with Regent. At first these angels ruled justly over the worlds. Then the suporters of god tried to take back heaven using espionage. They managed to take over the Almighty, heaven, and ruled cruely. They interfered directly with happenings in the worlds. They destroyed everything that could take them down. Every being in every world feared them.

Soon, all that remained of the civilization of Will and Lyra was memories, map, charts, poems.

One poem thrived, never changing over hundreds of years. It told of the adventures of Will and Lyra, and mainly of the Subtle Knife. According to the poem, the knife had encountered something it could not cut through. Love. Upon attempting to cut through, the knife broke, shattering into six pieces; the handle, the sheath, and four pieces of blade.

The sheath had supposedly been recovered, and was held in a tiny museum in Oxford, which contained many remnants of the past times. The other six were scattered.

The poem told of the locations of the pieces, and the only thing known about them was that they were hidden in a pit of sorts, guarded by monstrous beasts:/i]

I'm not done the poem, but it starts like this:

You travel far to find the bits

Of the blade with the pieces six

Solve the riddles following

To find the burial pits.

For the handle you must travel

To the land of Jesus' birth

Then go and find the places

of everlasting mirth
