I have an HP personal media drive [160gb] and a few days ago, it "stopped working". :D

 

 

 

its worked fine before and it has over 120gigs of music on it.

 

A few days ago when i turned the computer on it didnt recognize it. I tried it with other computers as well but no help, so the problem is in the hard drive.

 

After like 20 minutes it DOES recognize it

The first thing I would do is take the drive out of the enclosure and physically plug it into the machine using an IDE or SATA cable (whatever is needed) to test if it truly is the drive. You could also try using another enclosure. It could just be the USB/Firewire connection in the enclosure has gone bad and your drive is fine.
