April 8, 200521 yr because in order not to die you had to stay still and many stupid people decided to move on them...therefore they died and when people lose things jagex get mighty pissed off because idiots complain to jagex
April 9, 200521 yr jagex had made the random event. They did not post the update discription on the main page. So many people wearing their rares didnt know what to do when it came up so they died therefore losing items.

Whats was the issue on the scythes? well, about 2 months after i started playing there was this holoween (sp) drop. and it turned out they were undtradable so many noobs complained. (i did once after rs2 came out cuz they were so cool)
