Have you ever heard of a browser hijacker?

Featured Replies

I got a broswer hijacker on my computer but I don't know how or what it is/does. I deleted it once I ran ad-aware. It was hiden under a shortcut titles $$$ - refer a friend. Good thing I don't use IE for runescape anymore because I am almost 100% sure that the hijacker was for IE. Well if anyone knows what it is/does that would be helpful. (BTW thank god I am not hacker :P)

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, maybe if you posted this under the Tech and Computer section of the forum http://forum.tip.it/viewforum.php?f=45 they could better help you.

hi jackers are things that change your homepage usually to some pr0n page or whatever and usually installs one of those "covert" search engines that randomly decide to block ure page and show itself. I dont think they contain keyloggers but you never know..........

They basically redirect certain websites...

So say you are trying to get to yahoo.com, it will take you to badsite.com instead. It can also install a bunch of worthless junk on your browser, and be a huge hassle to get rid of...

Just use adaware, spybot, and what not in safe mode to get rid of it

If remenets of it stil lremain, post a HJT log

A browser hijacker changes your home page, and continues to revert it back if you attempt to change it, and/or changes the default search when you type things into the address bar. eg. typing "hello" in the address bar should bring up a msn search for hello.
