My internet has been locking up on me. Which means i am conected to the internet but it will not let me go to any website. On aol (version 9.0 sercurity se) it will get to the 2nd step and just won't connect.

I believe my firewall is causing the problem. I have Zone Alarm free edition. When i disable the firewall the problem goes away on AOL atleast :? .

I have found out it is a total firewall problem now. Zone Alarm is completling locking actcess to the internet. I checked all the seyyings and none would make it do that. I only way I am now is with my firewall disabled, which is a bad idea.

Any ideas to stop this? Should i swich firewalls if i absultly have to?

I wouldn't think you would have to switch your firewalls, it probably just has to have certain ports opened that are currently... not

There also may be a few options that are stoping you from acessing the internet all together. Just play around and see what you can do untill someone else has any bright ideas

Did you install firefox with the normal Exe file (stupid question... but) not that you just copied the folder onto a CD from another computer, or via lan? Because then certain ports on your computer (not router) wouldn't be opened

Do you have a firewall or router (sorry if you already specified this but I don't see it)

If you have a router, is there a firewall turned on on it?

Is your windows firewall on?
