I'm not entirely sure if backing up game cd's like this is legal, if you only use it for backup purposes and you keep the original cd yourself, but in any case it's extremely difficult and requires the download of dodgy programs and executable files. It's far easier to just take good care of the original cd and make sure it doesn't get scratched ;)

scratched discs still work, but thats besides the point. this game cost $50 and its compleatly legal, its just not legal for my to make a copy then give it to a friend, which im not.

but enough with this chit chat, please just stick with the question.

i know its possible. so if u have any words of wisdom to shine on my issue i would be greatly happy, "...like a chinese man eating rice after a long day of work"

Well if it's not to protect your real disc from scratching, then why would you want to back it up anyway?

As I said, you need to download dodgy programs for cracking the disc checking thing, and half of them will contain malware

And not only that, but third party software, priracy, and warez are not to be discussed here. He isn't trying to be mean or anything, he is just trying to protect you from....

1. doing something illegal

2. downloading something possibly infected with a virus

and protect himself from the admins who enforce the rules

There are two ways:

Creating a CD image. An image is basically a copy of the disc, but it's just a file on the computer instead of an actual CD. You then use a program, such as a Daemon Tools, to run it. This will not work with all copyprotections, but it will with some.

The second way is to crack it, and obviously no links where you can get hold of cracks will be allowed here. Traditionally, sites that offer game cracks contain porn advertising and spyware.
