Xbox Live Dashboard Update: Dec 4, 2007

Featured Replies

If you turn on your 360 today, you should get prompted that you need this update.

Some pretty cool features. Being able to have a bio, see friend's friends, and a general better layout for the dashboard.

On another note, is anyone else experiancing that the dashboard and friend lists are going VERY slow? Is it just me or am I getting close to the RRoD? (Main reason why I posted this.)

Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651

It might be server strain. If I understand this correctly (I don't have a 360; I've yet to update from Gen-2 consoles yet), everyone who has an internet connection on their 360 is required to download this update. You then have other features which require a fairly constant connection. This would be similar to Runescape on an update day: When the update first comes out, the servers may be slightly laggy because everyone is downloading updates.

So I don't think it would be a Red Ring of Death prediction, but rather you noticing an abnormal server strain as it affects your system. Give it a week or so until everyone has downloaded this update and you should be fine.

don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?

Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007

First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

As said above, it's just a server strain as everyone who has an Xbox 360 (which I assume is quite a few million) is downloading the update. Not just Runescape, but on any game or mmorpg, when a new update comes out, it takes bandwidth on the server to deliver the new updates to players, making your casual connections a bit slow.
