Logical Belief in God (Not intended to Convert!)

Featured Replies

Let me begin with a preamble; I will state that I do not intend to convert any religious man. I do not intend to turn an Atheist into a christian. I do not intend to turn an agnostic into a christian. This is merely informational, and my own views.

Now, let us examine the evidence to see that the lord Jesus in fact existed. I am not arguing right now that he is the Son of God. For now, we just observe that he once existed of flesh and bone. You see, the bible is a history book to his works and to his life. In this context, the bible is the history of Jesus on earth (or at least, parts of it reveal to his human existence.) Choosing to believe that history, however, is completely up to you. But let us say that you don't. Well, it is written down in a book, right? You respond, 'not all things written are true.' OK, Let us accept that argument. Not all things written are true. Not even in history books, apparantly. Yes, that is very possible. So...why believe that the Civil War ever happened? Why believe there was every slavery in the history of the world? History books say so? Well, the bible said that Jesus exists but, you don't accept that. Why accept that the Crusades ever occured? Prove it. How can you? One cannot go back into time. (Do not give me a quantum physics lecture on how an end justifies a mean in the past if there is no observer of the particular phenomenon in question, please.) I rest my argument. If you don't believe Jesus existed, don't believe that the world even existed before the date of your birth, because you can't prove it at all.

Now I will argue that Jesus was in fact the Son of God. Here, we see that the bible once again, points up the miracles that Jesus made. OK, let us dis-regard that, assume that it was lying. How can we be sure that it existed? Simple...it takes two things. Faith, for one, and a logical mind. Here, we examine a history of man. The world was calm and polytheistic before God (not Jesus! Farther back than 0 AD!) revealed his gloriful presence to the human race. However, at the exact time that Jesus Christ was born, the world was turned upside down. We have already assumed he existed of flesh and bone. But why would the world become a kicked anthill for a mere human? Because he was much more than a mere human! He was the messiah! From his very birth that was concieved! Why would men, for 2000 years, lay down their lives for a mere human? A mere human, whom, according to his mortal status, was little more than a wandering beggar and healer? Yet he had apostales, and most of them were martyred! Only ONE of the original apostales died a natural cause. He performed miracles, yes. Of course, not even I have any argument to say whether this happened or not, but I can only observe that other humans whom have followed and carried their legacy with their tongues would risk their lives for a great miracle worker like Jesus.

Here, I argue that Jesus saved us all. This takes a large amount of faith. Jesus saved us all when he died upon the cross becaus he willingly gave himself up as a human sacrafice, the most mighty and holy sacrafice possible to save us worthless humans. He was the unblemished lamb. But he wiped us of our original sin that the angel Satan had blemished upon us! We were saved. How can we prove this? Man gained a morale sense from that day on. Men became better men, and heros become true heros. Humanity as a whole became better than the animal kingdom that day and forever after. But there is no logic, truly. There is only faith.

God created the earth, down to the very last atom. Everything his created was beautiful. This is a mere question, but do you really believe that our world fell together so well without any help? To the very last neutron? If even one was faulty, almost ninety-trillion jeoules of pure energy would have obliterated our entire galaxy.

Last, one would ask...Raven, are you not going to argue that God exists? Are you not going to throw out evidence, as many other philosophers have tried to do and failed? Are you going to prove it?

My brothers, my sisters...yes, I would like to give you evidence that God exists. I would like to destroy any doubt in your mind. It is true. But...I cannot. Even if I did have evidence, I would not. If we knew God existed in our minds and not our hearts, then we have defeated God's purpose. We have wandered from his loving gaze.
