Silver_Dragon
Ok, this continuously pops up on my screen each time I boot up my laptop: I click to install it, and it brings me to this screen (I have no disks or w/e to go along with it) What is it? I try to install it but after about 40 seconds of the computer searching, I get this: So I cannot install it, but I would like to if it is a part that I need. For some reason my external CD ROM drive is not working also, is ARC ATA[][] connected to it somehow? My question is: What is this particular part useful for, and how can I get it to install, and why is my external CD ROM DRIVE not working? :( I tried Google but didnt really help :? BTW, running windowsXP pro edition on a toshiba pentiumII portege 7020CT, if that helps.
zonda
-right click my computer, and go to properties. -Then click on the tab taht says hardware -select "device manager" Look underyour DVD/CD-ROM drives and see if you can find your external drive in there. If you see it but it says it is uninstalled or something of the like, choose to install it. If it isn't under there, look under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" (in the case that it is hooked up via USB, it may be under there) and do the same as mentioned above now restart and see if you still get that message... in the case that you do: NOTE: ONLY DO THIS STEP AFTER DOING THE THINGS MENTIONED ABOVE As for the ATA problem, that could be numerous things... but given the name: -right click my computer, and go to properties. -Then click on the tab taht says hardware -select "device manager" and look under "Disk Drives" and\or "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" ...
