  1. Thanks for all the replies, I will just take out a stick of RAM and look at it...Dunno why I did not think of that first :wall:
  2. Heh, that was me back when I ordered some RAM, and it didnt work. So that was me :D I also try to get help there too.
  3. Nobody knows  just my luck... :(
  4. I cannot figure out what type of motherboard I have. I tried the crucial system scanner, didnt work. It said 'pmg we cannot detect ur motherboard lollerz BUY OUR MEMRY NOWZ' And it also reported that I can hold 4gb of RAM, when my manual says I can only hold 2gb  I tried Belarc's advisor, it told me I had: Board: Intel Corporation D915GRO [serial # here] but I tried searching the Intel main site for that board^^ Nothing came up. I dont know what to do now :x I have 512 mb already, but I want to get another gig of RAM, but my board is VERY picky about what kind of RAM I use, since I bought a set of 2x512 last time (I have 4 open ram slots), and I thought it was compatible, but surprise surprise, my computer spat it out like sour milk. I DONT KNOW WHAT RAM I CAN TAKE this is getting very frustrating, and I dont know what else to do. I *THOUGHT* I could take 184 PINN, DDR 400MHZ RAM but no, I cant, and I am at a dead end. :wall:
  5. Still won't beat the gameboy vanilla, or the original gameboy that was like, as big as an answering machine lol. My dad still has his, and has the original mario game on it :)
  6. Meh, I used to do it for an hour a day regularly, but I got a job and it takes precedence over working out. Besides I walk a lot while working (vacuuming rooms, weedeating uhh weeds, and other general stuff and running around at the college where I work at) and I am worn out by the time I get off, and want to get home into a nice shower and my jammies :)
  7. 56k..actually 28.8kbps on a good day  Upgrading to DSL January, when our dial-up plan runs out :D
  8. Here's a tissue... Now, you know you dont HAVE to do the trails, amirite?? amirite???
  9. Rita didnt kill thousands...dunno where you got that info from. People wised up from Katrina and got out of TX. :?
  10. Thats a good price...Almost what I paid for mine except mine is only a 200gb SATA drive and came with 512 RAM...which i upgraded to 2gb :)
  11. Ive already tried to update my BIOS with that update but it didnt help...I will print out the manual...
  12. 13. The max my board can take is 2gb of memory. I do not know if it can handle 2x 1gb sticks tho, uhhh where's a good hardware detector, I dont know what kinda mobo I have :wall:
  14. Na its not unbranded memory, its PQI and I made sure that it was 184 pinn, pc3200 ddr RAM, which was what my last set of RAM was only it was 512 mb not 2gb, and was made by Infineon. And I will check out that power problem ty :) EDIT: I did a bit of research and it turns its not my power supply at all. Its a problem with my ram...Ill try to fix it...but Im not sure exactly why its giving me this message. The RAM is: PQI 2048MB DL CH KIT|PQI3200-2048DB and came with 2 sticks of 1024 RAM. I took out my old ram of 2x256 (512) and put these two new sticks in their place. I have 4 open RAM slots, but I only use 2 slots, maybe putting them in the other two slots will help any? EDIT2: Heres where I bought it from http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820141227
  15. Ok I just installed 2gb of RAM and a new 480w PSU, when I first booted up the computer it gave me this message: And then it said this: But I just use the power cord that came with my new PSU :? Halp.
  16. yeh i no aye :D who dosnt love 2 brag but? it an over kill did u build that your self? if not can u give me a link to check it out thanks http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-doc ... dl=VGCRB30 My uncle found it off ubid.com, pretty good site for finding factory refurbished models for super cheap. It didnt come with a graphics card so you'll hafta buy one yourself and install it. Also, I upgraded my ram to 2gb and mu power supply to a 480w. Ive had mine for about 2 months and it hasnt given me a problem yet :)
  17. Lol. Especially if you both have braces -.- not fun unhooking them.
  18. For a gaming machine you'll want at least 2gb of memory, not 1gb. 2gb is quickly becoming the norm as more powerful games are made utilizing a lotta RAM. One example is Battlefield 2, I tried it with 2x 256 sticks and it loaded very slow and stuttered a lot, but when I upgraded to 2x 1gb sticks, it loaded very quick and did not stutter at all. As for the 2 graphic cards, SLI is nice...but IMO it's not needed. the 6800GT is a powerful card already, and running 2x might give you only a slight increase in performance. It's up to you if $200 is worth a few seconds of waiting, since a single 6800 can already handle any game's graphics out there. Mine is somewhat similar to to yours, only its not SLI and is a P4 with Hyperthread. But mine was a little over $800, saving over $1300 dollars than what you're paying.
  19. Well I went ahead and bought it. Will be getting it in a few days I hope, thanks all :)
  20. I got two at the moment: Battlefield 2 and Half Life 2. BF2 is good but you gotta have a good computer to even run it at low settings. I play at high settings with textures on, but only because I have 2gb memory+a GeForce 6800 256mb, and the graphics are amazing  HL2 is a good fps. The only real reason I got it though is because of the huge Goldeneye: Source mod that is coming out for it in a few weeks/months. I hear Rome:Total war is good to...ITs turn based though and I dont like turn based too much :)
  21. What are some good companies that make excellent PSU's? I know Thermaltake is one but are there other ones with good quality like them? Also, would this be a good PSU? Im looking to spend about $70-80 on one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817153014 But I would like to browse other good companies' products too. Also, my computer runs kinda hot when I'm playing Battlefield 2 on anything but low settings, Ive been looking to buy a few fans to help get heat out and get cool air in, but I dont know where to put them lol. Ive already got 2 factory installed fans plus the one in my power supply. One of the fans is an intake fan I guess, it's where a small grille is on the side of the case and its sitting on top of the Pentium chip. And the other is blowing out of a small grille in the back of my case. I also have the small fan on my GeForce 6800 and it blows the air down. I guess I could place an intake fan near the bottom where my GPU is so some cool air could get down there? Or what would you guys reccommend  One more question, is it safe to use an air blower to blow dust outta my PC or will it damage some components :P
  22. Sigh...25% of our country's oil refining capactity comes from Texas...Might wanna fill up with lower gas prices while you guys can. Oh, and its a Cat 5 as of this morning. Supposedly the third most powerful storm in recorded history. Great.
  23. Ok I will do it, and I will check into the 450w or 500w power supply and see their prices. Now what I am mainly concerned about is if I can find one that will fit into my computer -.-
  24. I got a GeForce 6800 non-GT with 256 onboard memory and I read where it needs a 350w or better PSU. Well I think my power supply is 305 watt so I want to upgrade to at least a 400w or better PSU. What I'm worried about is if I get the wrong kind of PSU will it hurt my computer :( Like if I get too much voltage will it fry my system? Here's the website with the specs for this model of computer I have: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-doc ... dl=VGCRB30 Just click on 'marketing specifications' and its a PDF document, no viruses or anything. But Im mainly worried about frying my computer with the wrong type of PSU, so what should I get :?
