I've got a PCI Express x16 slot and a PCI-E x1 slot, dunno what the difference is between them though :oops: And yeah, this is the only item ive ever bought from ebay. However if I could afford a newer model card, I would definitely buy it from a retail store.

Well if you're doing that, you could position a big box fan and have it blowing directly at your computer, it would cool it down significantly :)

Whoa, hold it. If it's a part-time job he does after school or something...It's fine, that's exactly what I do, work for $7.00 US per hour part time after high school at a local technical college doing mainly grounds maintenance. (yep-emptying trash, cleaning rooms, etc.) but it gets my bills paid, and I have loads of extra spending cash in my pocket. Very handy. However, if it's a full time job.................. :?

As with every culture, there are those who bring shame and disgrace to it. These people are the lowest of the low, no doubt. Nothing we can do except watch and wait for the police to be able to detain and do something with those scum. Anyway, at least there is some good coming out of this. Our state (which is about 2 states over) has been recieving thousands of people per hour by the busload who have been displaced by the hurricane, or their homes have been completely destroyed. I guess New Orleans had a population of at least 100,000-200,000, and every one of those people are needing to find a new place to live. At least here, a majority of the Hotels are offering lowered rates, but most are full, even in my small town, and shelters are over-capacity. Guess all we can do is wait, has anybody seen the before-and-after satellite photos of New Orleans Thursday before it got hit by the hurricane, and then after on the following Tuesday. It's eerily awesome how much the landscape changed. The death toll from this is going to rise significantly. The Coast Guard, National Guard, and other rescue teams haven't even started to search for nor pick up the dead bodies yet. All concentration is currently going towards finding and rescuing survivors. Also, two people from my state have died as a result of a series of F2 and F3 tornadoes caused by the hurricane, and I haven't even heard about the death toll in Alabama or Mississippi yet.

So would that be the little red-and-white intertwined cable on it then? Or where is it. Also, Im not interested in it being SLI or not, seeing as how I would hafta shell out $200-300 more bucks for it another 6800 to make it work :P

Heh, what'd really shock me is if it's so powerful that it takes a turn out toward the Atlantic, circles back around the east coast, and goes back into the Gulf of Mexico, hitting us twice in one hurricane. Highly unlikely, but freaky to think about :shock:

I'm not sure if this one comes with it's own power cable or not, and would I also need a DVI-I VGA adapter for it also? I can download the drivers for it from the Nvidia main website, so that's not a problem. And last, if needed, where could I purchase a power cable for it and a DVI-I VGA adapter for this GeForce 6800 256 PCI Express Video card TV-out SLI? I tried searching google but nothing good came up.

Meh, it's probably going to heavily affect where I live...A lil bit west of Atlanta, GA. Forecasters say we're gonna get hit by the 'bad side' of it. I don't care much though, it's almost always hot and dry where I live. Need a bit of excitement here :wink: Just as long as it doesn't affect my weekends :evil:

I remember hearing from our old Comp. Apps teacher that it's better to just leave your computer running rather than turn it off, and to only turn it off if you're going to be gone and not use it for over 2 days. Does not shutting down every time you get off the computer really help out your computer a lot? Or should I just continue shutting it down at night, or maybe putting it on standby? Or should I not worry about it :P

This is probably a very simple answer but I cannot for the life of me figure this out. This isn't the desktop I'm using, the one I'm using has a light silver background, and with the icon text white like this one...I can't see the icon text too well...:P Say I want to simply change the area of the text behind the icon to a shade of dark blue or black or something. What I was doing was right clicking the desktop, selecting properties, then going to 'Appearance' but none of the ones I tried changed the icon text. Again, its probably something simple I overlooked, but I'm impatient.

Hmmm, definitely getting Hl2 and BF2, might get Rome: TW if I have enough left over...
