Gil Colin Graham, By Xebn Xocnil Xewleer

Prologue

It was the time beyond the Age of Piracy, the last few great pirates, notably Cran Delor and Rafeal, were all that remained of that chaotic time. The country of Archadia was more powerful than it ever had been, Achadia city spread slowly over the face of the nation, already covering more than 1/5th of the land mass.

But that still left a good portion of the land for small rural towns and forts that dotted the landscape at intervals, and it was from there the armed forces of Archadia got the majority of their recruits.

In one town, there was a merchant, and he had a family, the Graham family. They were not rich, but were well respected, especially the merchant's son, Gil Colin Graham, but for a slightly different reason. He was the leader of the teenagers, the recruiter stationed at his town made sure that he was on good terms with him, after all, he was proper leadership quality, diplomatic and top of the sword play club, with an excellent work-ethic to boot, a recruiters dream.

He was, however, something of a wanderer, going on journeys on the slightest impulse, definitely airship marine quality.

The attack on the town came, as it should, without warning. Rafael sacked the town and killed the inhabitants indiscriminately, there were no survivors. Gil Colin Graham had been shoved into a closet by his mother, who, before she could also hide, was killed, and his father suffered the same fate.

He grew up and joined the Airship marines, and became a lieutenant. His first real mission began soon after his promotion.

His captain was tough as diamonds, with barely any of their luster. He hated Gil Colin Graham with extreme prejudice, but then again, he hated all those lower in rank than him indiscriminately. He assembled the team for the mission, and stood in front of them. Even though he hated every single one of them, he would lead from the front.

"Alright you stinking maggots! Our mission is this, the pirate, Cran Delor, one of the last true pirates left, has made a strategic mistake that we WILL take the advantage of. In the northern mountains between ourselves and Windbloom, our spy in his ranks has reported that he will taking only a few friends and crossing into our border to see what the defenses are like in a certain town.

Now, we WILL be working with a small fleet of airships, they WILL be attacking the Deloran." The Captain looked over his team, the lights made his scars stood out. Anyone who had been with him for any real amount of time knew the story of each and every visible one. He had killed many enemies of his country, and had nearly been killed by more than his share of them. "Lieutenant Graham! You WILL take ten handpicked fighters and attack from behind. We WILL stop his airship, you WILL attack from behind by blowing a hole in it."

He looked around at them, not for moral support, they had better darn well understand it. He took long enough then nodded, while saluting. They stood and saluted back. leaving.

Lieutenant Graham waited until all but the Captain had left. "I know you want me dead. But I'll disappoint you."

Well, long story short, he did disappoint the Captain, but the Captain was much to dead to be disappointed at all. Cran Delor, the object of the attack, was killed by Graham himself. And, as a reward, he was given promotion to Commander.

The Admiral, a rather large man, who had a jolly way about him, sent him on his next mission. To protect the diplomat sent to the country of Cameo, to reevaluate and update the treaty according the changing times. Sounds deceptively easy.

- Story starts in true earnest the next chapter!~
