Collecting - Enjoyable pastime or fruitless endeavor

Is collecting a pastime a true enjoyable hobby, or a childish fruitless endeavor? Myself , I am a collector and I enjoy what I collect. I have three Hobbies and I am baffled by the amount of people who simply do not understand nor tolerate the concept of collecting.

I have heard everything, itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a timewaste, I collect plastic, Cardboard or discÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s that will be obsolete in 10 years. Im wasting my money. And I counterargue that I am not.

I think for the most part people donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t understand collectorÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s because they donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t collect. They donÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t understand whatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the point in it, They assume its always for the money.

So my fellow tipianÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s what do you collect? What good and bad experiences do you have from your hobby? Do you have support from your hobby or do you get flamed for it by loved ones?

My Passion #1 is Sports cards and memoribillia. Cards have tonÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s of hobby shops, Monthly publications and are still sold at a majority of retail stores. But they can be expensive..As of 5 PM today, almost 50 Tom Brady rookies are selling for over a grand a piece. Hundred of Cards that could pay for my education, or help buy a car, Why shell out hundreds of dollarÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s for such an item? Could it be a patriots fan, a collector like myself who collects legends of the game of past and present just to own them?
